It's the end of the world -- AGAIN!

I was listening to "Bob & Tom" this morning on the way to work and they were referencing this story about a biblical scholar's prediction of the end of the world. Hmmm... Y2K was sooooo 11 years ago and the Mayan 2012 thing isn't for more than a year -- who wants to wait that long for the apocalypse? This time the end of the world is supposed to come on May 21 of this year. O' joy... o' rapture (literally, i guess). Whatever. Not only does it ruin any chance for fun summer plans, the 21st is also a Saturday...and that will just mess up the weekend (well, I probably wouldn't have had anything to do anyway...).
The next time someone announces the end of the world, can they please pick a better day? How about Income Tax Day (who wants to pay taxes? Besides, it's also my birthday and, ugh... Let's NOT go there.) or the Tuesday AFTER Labor Day when everyone has to go back to work?
But May 21, huh? I'd better mark my calendar or I'll probably forget and miss the whole thing. I always seem to miss out on everything.

I remember back in 2000 when on May 5 all the planets were supposed to align and the earth's poles were supposed to shift and the surface would be thrown into chaos. So my office had an end of the world party. The fact that it was on Cinco de Mayo may have contributed to the large amount of beer and tequila drunk.
That said, I say we have an end of the world party. I'll bring the Jagermeister.
Why not a work day? Why is it the end of the world always comes on my day off?
