What's to like about the Coachella 2013 lineup?

The lineup for this year's Coachella music festival was released on Thursday and like every year I spent a good five minutes looking at the tiny-ass type on the digital flier someone had posted on Facebook trying to figure out just who the hell was playing. Then I found this link, which had all the bands listed in nice, readable type

My breakdown:

  • Day 1 This would be my day of choice (if I had to choose) in terms the bands I have a strong desire to see. While I am on the fence on Blur and The Stone Roses (headliners for the day), the rest of the day is jammed-packed goodness: Yeah Yeahs, Lou Reed, Grinderman, Band of Horses, Johnny Marr, Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine and Lee Scratch Perry (who I thought was dead for some reason).
  • Day 2 This would probably be my day of rest, although there are a few bands that could suprise (and a couple I'd put on my must-see list): New Order, Descendents, Puscifer, Cafe Tacuba and Dropkick Murphys.
  • Day 3 Doubt I would make it through Red Hot Chili Peppers (who headline the night). I would stay for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Also of note: Fresno-friendly band (the drummer Daren Taylor is a friend. Yes. I will name drop that one), the Airborne Toxic Event plays again this year. They played the main stage the first night in 2009.

Those who follow the music scene here should recognize more than a few of the other names on the list as bands who have passed through town in the last year or so. Keep watch as the festival gets closer. If past-history dictates some of these bands will play Fresno in the day before or just after Coachella.
