Eatcho doesn't name drop. He just knows people.
And whether it's for his art, his music, or his work on downtown murals, people know Eatcho.
If you don't, he's easy to track down. He will have new works on display tonight at Teazer World Tea Market. There will also be live music from Radioactive Cauliflower (of El Olio Wolof), Joey No-Knows (also a member of El Olio Wolof), and Wheels of Fortune (new project of Niilo Smeds).
Here, Eatcho gives us a tour of some of his favorite haunts.
You're on a bike ride through town, what's on the list?
First is ">Food King for a single Ciggarello. The new owners are nice cats. Then it is Laucks Bakery for some day old pastries. I was given a really nice persimmon cookie recipe from there. Then it is Teazers, just to say hi to whomever is working. They are all cool people. I stop by Revue to see if Kevin is working and if he is we act crazy for a second. Then I am on my way down Broadway St. towards the Pearl Building. I have been stopping by Vagabond Lofts lately. Good people there also and nice murals. I go to 1416 Broadway Studios and chat it up with some of the artist and sometimes eat lunch at Checkers (they sadly are in another locale now). From there it is the C.A.F.E Info Shop. They are building a tool shed for the bike clinic. It is always nice too see what they have goin on. The people there are angels. It is like heaven without deoderant. On the way home I will head by ">The Movies and see Lewis. There is always a suprise guest playing a tune. I love it. Then I head back to Food King for the last Ciggarello of the day. If I have some extra cash I will drop by Au Lac to get some vegan food. My friend Jason always gets the happy burger but I prefer the garlic chicken. Garlic puts hair on your chest...
Where do you like to go for coffee?
Kern St. Coffee ... It's a great place for bagels. There is always jazz playing (good jazz not smooth) and the owner John is really cool and down to earth.
To see artwork?
Anywhere (vague but true).
Where do you go for inspiration?
Outside (vague but true).
Best view in town?
On the overpass on Broadway and Stanislaus streets. I would think the Security Bank Building would have the best view though.
Favorite Fresno landmark?
Hmm ...what makes a landmark a landmark?
It's Sunday morning. You're hungry and want to go out. Where do you go?
Train Depot on McKinley Ave. and First St.
Favorite piece of public art in Fresno?
The statue right next to the library downtown. It is in the middle of big fountain. You know what I'm talkin about?
You're friends are visiting from out of town. They want to see Fresno. You have one stop. Where do you go?
To the nearest bar so they can forget they ever stepped foot in Fresno (totally kidding).
Favorite park?
Roeding... Woodward park never has any Quinceañeras.
