I'm not sure how I'd never heard of Chuck Prophet before.

Dude seems right up my alley. He's a veteran singer songwriter from San Francisco (or the City, as I say) who makes new-age-style proto-punk that harkens back to Nick Lowe, the Modern Lovers, etc. (of which I am a fan, for sure). His latest album "Temple Beautiful" is out on Yep Rock Records this week and he'll be at Audie's Olympic Saturday night with Three Back Jacks.

The album (his 12th) takes its name from the old Reverend Jim Jones’ People’s Temple, a punk club where Prophet started playing 30 years ago, and is a tribute to the club and to the weirdness that is San Francisco. "White Night, Big City," is about the White Night Riots that erupted after Dan White was convicted on voluntary manslaughter for the death of Harvey Milk (there's a history lesson for you) and "Castro Halloween" is about ... well, it's there in the name.

On a scale of "eh" to "highly recommend" I would say GO TO THIS SHOW!
