Famous Whitewater gets traded to The Bee
As a way of official announcement (which I haven't made here yet): These are my final days with Fresno Famous.
Starting Monday (Feb. 25), if you want to follow my antics (and you know you do, insert winky-smiley faced emoticon here) you'll have to trek on over to the Fresno Beehive (or, you know, read the paper) where I will be writing/blogging as the music/entertainment reporter for the Fresno Bee proper, a spot occupied for 10 years by the blog-father himselfMike Osegueda.
Big shoes to fill.
Of course, I've made a career of filling shoes.
When the Fresno Bee purchased this website from Jarah Euston in 2006, I was tapped to become the new Jarah. It was the same snarky tone and cool-kid attitude, just with less fashion sense.
There was probably less snark, too, but oh well.
Much of what I've become as a written can be attributed to my role on this site.
This is where I would list examples of stories/commentary/blogs, but you can search the site as well as I can. My user name is Famous Whitewater.
I'm not a big-send-off guy, so this is more in passing along the pertinent information than getting nostalgic or saying some kind of goodbye, though I would like to say thanks to everyone who followed the site even minimally over the years. With changing technologies, citizen journalism ain't what it used to be. But this site still remains an outlet for ideas that sit just beyond the mainstream.
As such, it's important that it continues on in my absence. What you need to know if you're a Fresno Famous user/follower/fan: Some things on the site (BANDGEEK, Flowing with Famous,Gig Reviews) I'll be taking with me. Mostly, I'm handing things over to John Esquivel, whom some of you have no doubt have seen around and know from his work with Religious Appeal.
Odd feeling to have someone fill my shoes.
Even as I am leaving I am excited to see what John will bring to this website and the community.
