Fresno Famous

And so it begins.

I have been selected to help keep Fresno Famous going.  I’d like to start this off by saying that I couldn’t be more excited.  I’ve spent the last few years exploring the local blogosphere and trying to contribute as much as I could through my own blogs.  It’s great to be able to move on to this larger soapbox behind a computer screen.

In Josh’s farewell post, he spoke about filling shoes.  I just want to let everyone know that I’ve taken the shoes that he left behind, bronzed them, and placed a plaque under them that reads, “This is what a blogger looks like.” I can only hope that I can emulate what he's done.

As I write this, I am reflecting a lot on what's been written about Fresno in newspapers, other blogs and social media.  If there is one thing I've learned, it's this: Fresno is worth every sentence that has been written about it and then some.  It’s worth all of the good, the bad, the misunderstandings, and the excitement.  It's up to you to take in some of the words, criticize the rest and use all of them to motivate you to find your own Fresno.  What are the things you enjoy?  What are the things you hate?  What has been said about Fresno that you just don't understand?

This place is so spread out and is constantly changing that you could have your own version of life here that is completely different from someone else's.

Living in Fresno is a weird voyage of discoveries – ranging from finding your new favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurant on a whim (side note: my personal favorite is still Little Peking on Cedar and Nees), drinking a Tioga-Sequoia beer for the first time, or even (get ready to hear north Fresno gulp in unison) spending a Friday or Saturday night in downtown.  Embrace the weirdness.

  Through past Fresno Famous posts, you got a taste of what it’s like to learn about Fresno through the eyes of those that are eager to absorb as much as possible.  I plan to keep that going.  Of course, not ALL of the city can be covered by other local outlets or even this blog without a little help.  We hope we can help you learn more about Fresno and, hopefully, you can contribute and show us a thing or two.
