Revitalizing downtown Fresno has been a dream for years now.  The question that everyone is wondering is how effective are the efforts being made to make this dream into a reality?  It seems to be a question that can only be answered by seeing for yourself.  Over the past couple of months I have spent a lot of time trying to get a feel for the downtown area and see what is actually being done.  You would be amazed at the energy and buzz that is being created and have probably heard some of it yourself.  To be honest, being downtown after sunset is not at all what people will tell you.

An event that I had an opportunity to check out is ArtHop, which is held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.  The event was a lot of fun!  Live bands were playing, wine was served, and some great art was shown.  A lot of people showed up too!  Another huge event that just happened this last weekend was the Fresno Downtown Open House.  More information can be found on their Facebook page or website.

Owners of various lofts such as the Pacific Southwest Building, Iron Bird Lofts, Fulton Village, Mayflower Lofts, and Van Ness Cottages had an open house as a way of advertising their amazing properties.  Almost 1,000 people showed up to participate in this event!

Besides the fun activities and great housing, downtown Fresno also has great food.  Everything from Italian food at Dicicco's to a great dinner/bar at Brick's restaurant is offered.  Not to mention that the newly opened Iron Bird Cafe is now open for some great coffee.

So the question was how effective are the efforts being made to revitalize downtown Fresno.  Just from looking places to eat, things to do, and housing it is easy to see that a lot of work is being put in.  So yes, it is easy to see that downtown Fresno is being effectively changed.  All it is going to take now is the people of Fresno to realize that something amazing is happening in our own backyard.
