Fresno Famous

I am a born and raised Fresnan. My whole life I have cultivated a love/hate relationship with this city of ours, and for the most part I have been disappointed by our downtown.

I have visited many other downtowns in other cities, and every time I find myself in a state of jealousy. I watch as people are drawn in by downtown city life and businesses. It is easy to stroll around and waste the day exploring unique shops, restaurants, and entertainment.

At the end of those days I am left wondering: Why don't I have a downtown like this?

I will end your suspense and tell you the answer that I have recently discovered... WE DO HAVE THIS!

I have spent the last couple months visiting Downtown Fresno on a regular basis and I have been pleasantly surprised by the difference between my pre-conceived notions and reality.  It makes me sad that I wasted my time listening to hearsay instead of actually going down there to formulate my own opinion.  

After visiting Fulton 55, Club One, Iron Bird Cafe, Tower District, the Fulton Mall, Art Hop, thrift stores, unique shops, restaurants, The MET and more, I can confidently say I have yet to find anything I don’t enjoy. I could even see myself living there after visiting all the lofts (the Fresno Downtown Open House Event was a huge hit)!

I now say: I am a born and raised Fresnan. I love Fresno; and I enjoy visiting and discovering new and exciting elements of Downtown on a regular basis. My expectations are met every time I’m there, if not exceeded.

I encourage everyone to dispel their current opinions of Downtown Fresno for one day and go see what it is REALLY like. I think you’ll be surprised with what you discover...
