Fulton Mall: Safe or Scary?

Okay, there are many reasons why I didn’t go to downtown Fresno. One of the main reasons was the homeless population. I have been to many downtown spots and have been around many homeless people but every downtown was a very populated place. I was never afraid of them in populated downtowns because I figured the strangers around me protected me. At 6pm on a Thursday night, I went to Fulton Mall to attend a class for Urban Entrepreneurship. I got to hear the history of the mall and future plans. Our class attracted some of the homeless and they even walked around with us. I have realized that you have to be aware of your surroundings but most of the people on the Fulton Mall seemed harmless. This has changed my opinion about the Fulton Mall and I would really like to see downtown become a safe haven for all ages. I have no doubt that it will be a hot spot in the near future.
