Downtown Fresno

Is the future of downtown Fresno looking brighter? As a local artist and graduate student, I would say yes!  After moving home from being away at school, i realized I didn't want to live in a three bedroom, two bath home in some suburban neighborhood.  I am looking into getting a condominium downtown to be closer to the action! I have seen several different options, all of which look promising.  The downtowns' close proximity to major freeways would make getting places a breeze! Does anyone share my opinion?!

I know this seems like a shameless effort to push our blog, but we discuss issues about Downtown Fresno Revitalization, the steady building momentum of change in Downtown Fresno and how much we enjoy living in the area on our blog www.fresnourban.com

There is a percentage of people within every city who will refuse to live in suburbia. I think urban living in Fresno is sustainable through this time of global recession. Downtown Fresno has an integrated feel like all downtown cities do. One thing I like about living downtown is that I can use a bicycle for short-term distances ( 2 miles or less). The gas prices right now are crazy like in 2007. Transportation is a key characteristic of suburbia. I hate having to drive every time to go somewhere in the suburb. Downtown living seems more exciting than living on a cookie-cut track home development. I love how everything is short distance in downtown Fresno. $4 a gallon gas is making people change their habits and one of them is where they live.

Couldn't agree with that suggestion more. I live a block down from Fulton and Divisadero and the area has a cool vibe to it. The Walkability index is good at 74, and with Fulton 55 and the Rainbow Ballroom, there is always something to do.

The corner of Fulton and Divisadero has become a cool place to live and play.

There's an excellent map here of all the downtown developments completed and those in the planning stages:
