Get Up And See Downtown Fresno For Yourself!

This weekend I went to dinner with some of my closest friends. As we talked about everything from St. Patrick’s Day to PBR, the topic of downtown Fresno came about. One of the girls was very quick to say, “ Oh man! Downtown Fresno is so gangster, and there isn’t really anything to do down there!” I thought to myself, then turned to her and asked, “Have you been downtown recently?” She then gave me the most typical response, “No way! I haven’t had a reason to.”
This is the exact perception that many people have about downtown Fresno, and in my opinion they couldn’t be more wrong. I can name far scarier places in Fresno, (*cough* Sin City *cough*), and five awesome things to do just off the top of my head. For example, upcoming in April an average Joe could go to a Fresno Grizzles baseball game, volunteer at the Fulton Mall Plant and Clean on April 9th. Moreover, one could a have a bite at Hero’s Sports Lounge and Pizza, see a comedy show at Fulton 55, admire local art at ArtHop, or have an exotic drink at Tokyo Garden. Each of these activities is very fun, affordable, and can open your eyes to what downtown has to offer.
The people of Fresno must stop assuming that downtown is a scary place where you are going to get shot, or may not find a parking space. We must change our perception and go check it out for ourselves. I promise you will be surprised of how much life there really is, you just have to have an open mind to find it.
Now I challenge you to go check it out for yourself. Go see the revitalization efforts that are partaking, instead of listening to the people who haven’t embraced downtown for what it is and the potential it has to offer.

Downtown Fresno is an enjoyable place to meet with friends. The image of downtown Fresno is changing quickly. Fresno citizens are becoming aware of the events around downtown. Art hop is an entertaining weekly event occurring every Thursday. Many artists’ have the ability to display their works of art for the public. The art is displayed at several different art shows throughout downtown. Walking from location to location is easily manageable; the art shows are in close proximity to each other. The environment is safe and friendly. The artist’s personally welcome viewers to their exhibit and inform them about their art pieces. Refreshments and appetizers are available to all spectators. The streets have many people with similar interests on them, many eyes on the streets creates safety. Nothing violent or awful occurs at these events because of the eyes on the street. Everyone should try something fresh, I recommend Art hop in down town Fresno. You will have a pleasurable time and will not regret your trip to downtown Fresno.
