Occupy movement, Payton Manning and the price of professional sports

Let me throw something out at you and see if it sticks.

Patyon Manning just signed a 5-year $96 million contract to play with the Denver Broncos. I'm assuming that put him in the one-percent (in Occupier terms), which brings up a problem I have with the whole Occupy movement.

What separates Payton Manning (and any number of other actors/athletes/radio/TV stars) from some Wall Street fat cat? Money is money and they have it and the other 99% don't.

I don't have an answer to this, I just find it interesting that no one seems to find his salary outrageous. I figure it has something to do with that fact we feel empowered by making his dance for his money. By dance, I mean scramble around on the field without getting his neck broke.

My simple answer for this is, that many professional sports figures are grossly overpaid.

I'm not saying that they don't work hard. I am saying that the proportions are all messed up.---just like (proportionately) the salaries of SuperUltraBankers are.

The same for some entertainers, and for some folks who'd be considered serious artists in the music field.

The thing is... some folks get 60 kajillion dollars for their concert revenues...and most others get about 60 dollars....I say: there's something wrong. I'm not saying that, for example....The Rolling Stones are no better than...say... Sparkle Jet (though, I might say that....)...but they CERTAINLY are not a KAJILLION times better than Sparkle Jet.

Something's wrong. I'm not sure how to deal with it...but the free(?) market as fed to us by The Great Opiate Television....is not helping.
