Purple Hat and My Cross CHRISTian Art (www.purplehatssierras.com) are seeking an old olive tree or 3 that is/are no longer loved/wanted, to cut down, mill into lumber, and use to start making frames from for Purple’s CHRISTian art.

According to Purple, “I was doing some research last night on whether or not I could take food only mentioned in the Bible on my 30 day trip in August during which I’ll be swimming all of Mt. Whitney’s lakes, and I read how beautiful olive wood is.   According to Allan A. Swenson’s book, Plants of the Bible and how to grow them, by Citadel Press, ‘The wood of the tree itself was used for furniture as craftsmen took advantage of its fine grain and rich, variegated color.  Wood of olive seems to have had strong appeal to craftsmen of Biblical days, as indicated in this passage from 1 Kings 6:31:  And for the entering of the oracle he made doors of olive tree:  the lintel and side posts were a fifth part of the wall.  The two doors also were of olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, . . .  So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree . . .’”

Also according to Purple, “I would only be speculating if Jesus, a carpenter when he wasn’t performing miracles and freeing people from their sins, worked with olive tree wood!”

“I know exactly what I’m going to call the frames I’ll make from it:   Messiah!”
