Councilwoman Sterling,
A visit to the site devoted to what is going on in District 3 is most revealing.
Your office wastes no time in letting folks know what you see as important in your district. It tells of monies you have spent to do things for folks in Fresno and projects that you are proud of.
Councilwoman Sterling, your site is not quite correct. Allow MOI to point out one very LARGE error.
Dickey Youth Development Center (Chicano Youth Center)
I have it on very good authority that the name of the NEW Center
is not to be called 'Chicano Youth Center'. If that be true, why do you
continue to call it that on the site for the district?
Councilwoman Sterling, long time residents tell MOI that when the ground breaking
was done YOU were front and center. Mind, many long time residents were
not invited and only found out about due to the media covering YOU.
Councilwoman Sterling, you waste no time in crowing about what YOU feel
passionate about. It strikes this old geezer as right odd that given the brilliant
new addition of services to come, you have not made it more important on
the site. No updates, no progress report, no hue and cry to let the folks in
your district know how brilliant it is to be.
I must be thick as a brick, or right daft. One would think YOU would be doing
all YOU could do to make this NEW Center, the CROWN JEWEL, in YOUR desire
to leave 'no neighborhood behind'.
Mind, Councilwoman Sterling, your office wants MOI to believe that you have no say in
things there. That having the emblem of our country illuminated to show the entire
community that CIVIC PRIDE is here. How many times do YOU have to be reminded that it is YOUR role to get the American Flag a place of honour.
Councilwoman Sterling, you are right quick to spend $155,000.00 on a report to
tell you what is wrong in a different community. How much could a few lamps
cost the 'public purse'? I think it is time that YOU told true. If your office is
NOT responsible for what happens at the NEW Center, do tell. Go on record that
YOU do not have the power to make this happen and why. Stop passing the
buck to Mr. Randy Cooper and Parks &Rec.
As always, Councilwoman Sterling, I will post this on my website. I will post it on
Fresno Famous and if I can find a way to tie it in on another website much read
in Fresno I will.
Councilwoman Sterling, I live just round the corner from the NEW Center, that makes MOI
a part of the community that should be at the grand opening. I do so hope that
your office will ensure that my invite does not get lost in the mail.
Councilwoman Sterling, you have a right clever Chief-of-Staff, you really should get
Mr. Barfield to correct the site that calls the NEW Center by a name that is not
correct.

I have a poll on my website and so far almost 100 votes say that the emblem of our country SHOULD be illuminated. That will spare personnel from having to put up and take down, and show the entire community that CIVIC PRIDE is alive 24/7. One has to wonder if Councilwoman Sterling knows something MOI is not aware of. One of us is right daft and do not think it is MOI, as folks do tell am right clever.

One the note about the title of the center, the offical name is Dickey Youth Development Center. The grant which was funded by the state was written and given to the Chicano Youth Center. So the project has been labeled as we show it on the website.Thanksgb
There you have the official story. Mind, this old geezer is not alone in going fro A to Zed when he reads, and it does tent to tell one that there is more to the title.

I do walk the road and chat with my neighbors.
This morning 2 lovely ladies with children told me that they were waiting for
'The Chicano Youth Center' to open. How very odd.
You told me that it was NOT to be called that. These lovely ladies also told
me that when they go to Dickey Playgroaund, they are constantly reminded
that they are at the 'Chicano Youth Center', never mentioned that it is
'Dickey Playground'.
I have been trying very hard to let folks know that the new center and the playground
are NOT the private reserve of one 'special interest' group.
What am I missing?
Also, is your department going to be well attended at the block party? Have heard nothing.

This old geezer saves every email received from folks. MOI was told to get it in writing. Councilwoman Sterling must be thick as a brick. Councilwoman Sterling has, one is told, a brilliant Chief-of-Staff, and one would think they would know what a Center in the district is going to be called.
