Back in my college journalism days I was assigned a story on "emo." This was before people used terms like "post-punk hardcore" or "no-wave" or whatever. Back then there was "emo" and no one knew what it was exactly. Well, Benji McEntee knew and he was my source and told me all about it and pointed me toward a couple of really awesome albums that I later bought and seriously enjoyed.
A little (but not much) later, Benji started making some making "emo ... er, post-wave hard-punk something" music of his own, first with The Soma Holidays and then the Nancies and now with Fay Wrays, which is hosting a Rock and Roll Circus and release party Saturday at Fulton 55. They, no joke, put together a great line-up and if you get the chance you should be there. In advance of the show, Benji has given us a track ("This is the Kiss") to share with Famous users. It's loud and screamy and everything we like about the band. Enjoy!
