Will Fresno VOTE???

The snap used with this post came to MOI the other day. I was sitting outside of flat having a gasp and my eyes caught sight of the American Flag flying across the road at 104 N Calaveras. It was place there for the 'Evening of Music' and it still hangs proudly. To attach the flag, the manager used the railing outside the upper floor. He did not want to put any holes in the building. When it first was put up, the emblem of our country flew outside of the railing.

Looking at the American Flag, MOI noticed that it had got blown over the railing and now looked as if it was behind bars. MOI is either subject to fits of fantasy or has a loaf that gives a think on to much. As MOI sat looking at the flag, was struck by the metaphour presented by it. To this old geezer, it looked as if the American Values we talk much about were being held hostage on this road.

Today is Voting Day. Folks all over Fresno will ignore. The Fresno Bee says that 7 out of 10 will not bother to vote. Not in person or by mail. The excuse used will be that it is not important. That there is nothing worthwhile on the ballot that required giving up a few minutes of their precious time. Shocking.

Some will have the opportunity to pick new member of the City council. All of Fresno has the opportunity to select the next Mayor.

The low turn out will help some and hurt others running for public office. The low turn out will hurt the image of Fresno. Assure to many that folks in Fresno talk a good game, but when given the opportunity to speak out and make change happen, sit on hands and park feet. The would rather cluck tongues about nothing changing in Fresno, than to be able to do something. Just you wait, the airwaves will be filled with the cries of folks who think the outcome of the election is horrid. That the right man or woman did not win. That Fresno is still the private reserve of the few. The good folks of Fresno will lay blame for the election on everyone but themselves. Truth be told, each and every person who lives in Fresno who is eligible to vote and does not is a bad citizen. They have nothing to be proud of.

To MOI, it is a shallow victory to win an election that no one took part in. How can one crow about victory if most of the Folks did not bother to vote. Perhaps 'being a big fish in a dirty pond' is something elected officials in Fresno like.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6WZtA0TWWQ This tune calls to mind what is important about America.

Today June 3rd, 2008, the good folks in Fresno will shame this City. They will ignore their sacred responsibility to the City of Fresno, they will teach their children that good citizenship is not practiced here. All over Fresno the light of freedom will dim a bit more.

Along with not voting for change in Fresno, they will vote with their feet and stay away from another sacred right of responsible citizenship. The invite to March in the Alley against drug dealers selling 'poison' that will kill our children and kill Fresno will be ignored by many. 'Good Folks' who live on Calaveras and in the neighborhood will not come forward to make a stand. 'Good Folks' seeking higher office or to hold onto office will ignore the plight of this road and this neighborhood. Mayor Autry will ignore and he says that he is concerned about the future of our children. Illegal Aliens, who broke the law to come to America and Fresno, will hide still, giving proof to all that they are a part of the problem that is killing this road and this neighborhood.

MOI can not get many to be brave. All have a reason why they can not make a stand. To be true, there are some who can not march, they will be working or working at the polls. What does one use for excuse if there is no job to attend to? No polling place to man? No earthly reason to not march? How do they justify apathy? What will they tell children about the future that is not theirs, due to their not coming forward to protect that future. What excuse will they use when 'slumlords' refuse to address problems? When they are subjected to 'domestic violence' due to drug use? They live in fear? Have their government checks stolen or abused? When drug dealers selling 'poison' hook their children on 'poison'? When drug dealers selling 'poison' kill?

Some brave souls will March in the Alley on June 3rd. They will carry the American Flag, a coffin, tombstone and blow whistle and wave placards. Many more will ignore the march and pretend that it never happened or that it is not valid. On this day, many in Fresno will ignore their sacred duty to be a part of the system that makes this country what it is. THEY WILL NOT VOTE. Not in an election or in a peaceful march to protect selves.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gss--BuYhP8 one has to wonder.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6BE2WtwqqY It is never too late to make a difference.

but for myself, I feel an uninformed vote is as bad as a no vote. Least, I feel a responsibility to honor the vote with insight, study and research. I know I have a hard time giving enough time to the things I really should, like oil changes in the truck and researching things for my business.

I find your words encouraging though, I'll pursue at least that much more in the future.

I keep hearing it's due to having 3 elections in a 9 month span. I think there is a lot of truth to that. And I agree, absentee is the way to go.

So far the news is reporting low voter turnout. I don't understand why it is so hard for some people to go vote.
You have the option to become a permanent absentee voter. It is really simple and then you have no excuse as to why you can't vote.
Remember these key words, "If you don't vote, then you have no right to complain about your elected officials."

anti-
thanks for that smart voter link. i was pretty unsure on the state initiatives and it broke it down in a very nice way, with some good links that are helping me decide which way to vote.

I think some people don't vote because they don't know who to vote for, since there is only a little information given, and people are too busy to take the time to find the information to make a good decision.
Since 1998 I've been using SmartVoter.org to help make a good decision, I think it was having to make a choice on Judges, I did not know anything about them. I also wanted links to the candidates websites and Propositions.
I've been using smartvoter.org for 10 years now.

It's very helpful web site.
