At times the tune MOI remembers is a bit hard to find on YOUTUBE. This was best found, and would really liked to have found one with Pat Boone singing. The very same chap who was famous for his white shoes and big smile, long before he lost his hair...............as I type will try to think of another song to place on here and end this with music that sound better. It all ties in and MOI had a right smart time.

Last night Fresno Art Museum held the MEN WHO COOK event. It was a lovely night for it.

Fred and Roz Clark came and got MOI(too cheap to hire a taxi I was), we arrived early and bought our tickets. The folks at Fresno Art Museum sprang open the doors at the stroke of 6! We split up and MOI headed for the FOOD. There were tables set up all over the place and one had to decide what to eat first. I had promised that I would look up Fresno Whitewater aka Joshua aka Superman, and MOI did. There he stood proudly behind platters of crepes. Crepes filled with strawberries, apricots, blueberries. MOI was looking for the rib sticking kind and was not keen to start my orgy of stuffing my cake-hole with sweets. MOI is polite and did sample a crepe. It was good. MOI was gobsmacked to learn that some of the crepes were filled with chocolate pudding, I mean really, can you believe? Mates in Paris would fall down dead at the thought. Joshua has no shame and fessed up to the fact that he had help from the lovely lady standing with him(he is quite the ladies man). Before this turns into a total piece about Joshua, let me move on and come back to the famous crepes............

Bill McEwen was there, flogging his famous cookies. Not having seen them before was impressed with how they looked. The cookies were shaped like a painter's palate with M&M used as the colour. MOI is a fan of tea and sometimes for elevenes will have a cuppa and brickie. Bill's cookies would be lovely were it not for the candies on. OUCH, that was right mean. MOI is daft and thick as a brick, what does MOI know. Bill crowed to one and all that the cookies had been gobbled up so quickly and were gone long before expected. Bill had 200 and will have to make 500 next year.

Bill is a tinker! MOI had already decided to use a snap of one he knew for post today. Bill told MOI to give the honour to Famous Whitewater as all thought him to be a media hog already. What a gent. It is a sight to behold to see Bill McEwen in action. Along with flogging the cookies, Bill was also signing copies of his book for adoring fans(and there were many) All monies collected were to be given to Fresno Art Museum. With a smile and a comment for one and all, Bill wrote a personal greeting with a RED pen(got to see what that means). MOI got a signed copy for Roz and Fred Clark. MOI had to tease Bill as he brags about being quite the speller and could not remember how to spell HEROES, mind his column is perfect and that comes from having a brilliant editor. MOI makes the odd mistake but MOI is not Bill McEwen and have the resources of the Fresno Bee behind. When last seen Bill was stuffing massive amount of cash collect into pocket(all for Fresno Art Museum) and having a beer.

MOI also ran into Jim Boren at the event. Jim is so much more handsome in the flesh and almost larger than life. Another one of the lovely men who live in Fresno MOI has got to know. Jim did not cook, he wandered the tables filling cake-hole along with MOI.

Right, get to the FOOD...............

There was so much to eat. MOI made sure that he got his fill. There were some that stood out.

Sausage Kings were a stand out. MOI loves bangers and the bangers from these chaps were grand. MOI had to make several trips back. Cowboys Who cook were another hit, and will make a point of marking diary to go to their event next year. They were a cheeky lot. The Shrimp Man was good as was Mr. Tax Attorney, Two can Cook, Mr. Pilaf Man, The Greek Chefs. There was a lovely chap next to Famous Whitewater who had wonderful meatballs.

Bulldog Bob(Robert Wiemiller) had a red hot dish and one taste set MOI's mouth on fire. It was good, jut too hot for MOI. Bulldog Bob is the brother of Patrick Wiemiller. Patrick is that most excellent 'public employee' who made sure that Calaveras got thing fixed up. Guess being brilliant runs in the family.

You are 'au fait' with MOI. Tell MOI that something is British and will go running to try. Professor Fermentation did not have food, but what he did have was brilliant. Ale! British Ale and very good. Mind a bit too cool for taste but it did not stop MOI from having a few. Had to tell Bill about but think he missed out as it ran out.

Between filling cake-hole and running back for the FREE ale, MOI did find time to get a Treasure Chest(donation went to Fresno Art Museum) while MOI did not get the best surprise, the lovely cards were nice and will be used to write to mates.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC1Dj5AeQj4 This tune also comes from the Rogers and Hammerstein musical. To MOI it all fits in. The MEN WHO COOK was a grand affair. The crowd was lovely. There was music filling the air and folks dancing. MOI looked around and took in a sight that makes living in Fresno special. Lovely folks coming together to have fun in support of a wonderful cause. MOI had a lovely time and when deposited at flat got comfy and had to have a right good think on about the affair.

Have to leave you with parting words about Fresno Whitewater and his crepes...............They were a huge hit. He was sitting at table with platters stacked up and a sing telling all that they were gone. Right smug he was. I ran over to Bill's table and while he too was a sell out, there was one left. The winner was Fresno Whitewater. To be true both of these lovely chaps are winners and any who did not get to sample their efforts lost out.

If any want to know what the tune was that was at beginning one will have to check out the post at www.calaverasstreet.com

MOI is sorry to have missed folks from here that were at the lovely event. PIDO, you really missed out, mind, MOI had but a little taste of the crepes, was gobsmacked to learn that some many have had chocolate pudding. Right, light this old geezer on fire, am right wicked at times.
