Fresno Famous

There's a rumor going around that it's summertime. By that I mean, people are finally starting to complain about the heat, though the temps have been mostly double digits, so I am not sure where the hostility is coming from.

Still, this is probably as good a time as any for our Summer Quick List.

Bands tour during the summer, which makes it a great time to catch a show. Fresno has more than enough stuff coming through. Saturday night for example: There's the Beetles (three E's) at the Starline, Leaders over at Kuppajoe, the Grassroots (punk/ska/reggae/metal) Festival in Chinatown, Ru-Paul crowned drag queen Sharon Needles at the Express, Greg Ginn and the Royal We at Fulton 55 and a trio of Djs spinning at the Fresno Fairgrounds.

 Apparently, beer is trendy, though I'm supposing most of the cool kids have already moved on to scotch and whiskey. Enjoy a wonderfully brewed craft beer anyway. I suggest anything from Green Flash Brewing Company (I know it's not local, but what can you do).

Be responisible, please. Regardless of what you think, no one likes drunk you.

Surfing the web is like, the mostly mindless indoor entertainment ever, which is perfect when you're brain has just been melted by the sun. For funsies: The mythologically "Fresno" mini series is up on You Tube. Now you can finally make yourself sit through it like you always said you would (it's really bad and campy).

Recently I've become enamored with This is Conlan's This is Twittering: Meta-Commentary Digest, in which he deconstructs his own treats. There are 52 episodes and each one it comedy gold.
