Today is Dianne Feinstein's birthday. The senior senator from California is still going strong.

What do you say about a lovely lady who has devoted her life to service the people of California? From early days in San Francisco to the present, Senator Feinstein has always believed in giving back and trying to make her community, city and state, the best possible.

San Francisco is where MOI got to meet and see all of the amazing things that this lovely lady did for the City she loved. Serving on the Board of Supervisors and becoming the Mayor for 10 years.

Dianne Feinstein has always tried to reach out to one and all. Her compassion is the real deal and not worn on sleeve.

The Dianne Feinstein MOI remembers is from a different period of time, forever captured in my loaf, never to change over time. It is a collection of memories that have never faded over the years. It is how grand and smart she looked with the Hermes scarves she so loved at the time. The cheeky lady who could belly up to the bar at a fundraiser and tell one and all, it had been a long day and a gin and tonic was needed. The Jewish Mayor, who belted out Christmas Carols in a loud and strong voice at a department store on Market Street. The very same lady who invited the entire City of San Francisco to her wedding at City Hall, and served a right good wedding cake.

The very same Mayor, who showed real courage in the face of the AIDS crisis facing the City of San Francisco and closed the bath houses to protect untold numbers of homosexual men from harm. Who never pandered to one part of the City over the other, never lost sight of the fact that she was the Mayor of ALL of San Francisco. Who placed hounour above personal ambition and faced recall. How we in Fresno could use a person of such stature here in Fresno.

A grand lady who did not use gossip when running for the United State Senate.

As the Senator from California, Dianne Feinstein has continued to show that she is concerned about the entire state of California. She has continued to fight for the causes she believes in and right or wrong, she has soldier on, knowing that one has to be true to one's self.

MOI has voted for her and will continue to for as long as she wants to serve the folks from California. How very lucky we are to have Dianne Feinstein looking after our interest in Washington.

Ages ago MOI rang up a florist in the City and had an enormous arrangement made up and delivered to Mayor Feinstein's office. An aide to her told MOI that is was massive(MOI did tell the florist to get carried away) and it had to be moved several times on the desk to allow the Mayor to meet with folks in the office. At the end of the day, Dianne made sure that it was carried down and placed in the motor to take home. MOI is right proud to have been able to brighten her day. MOI hopes that many will remember Dianne Feinstein today and that the good wishes pour in.

Happy Birthday Dianne, and hope that there are many, many more birthdays to come.
