Brian Kenney Fresno performs
12-Hour Marathon Concert To The Valley's Unemployed

Brian Kenney Fresno sings modern day rock folk-tales, urban legends, and epics of the absurd, largely about Fresno, and previous works feature vast long form instrumental compositions.

June 22, 2009 – (Fresno, Calif.) Believing in the healing powers of both music and laughter, Brian Kenney Fresno performed a free 12-hour marathon concert for the people of the San Joaquin Valley. Brian Kenney Fresno performed near continuously for 12 hours, at Audie's Olympic Tavern located at 1426 N Van Ness, in Fresno's historic Tower District. The concert began at noon and continued past midnight, spanning several decades of over 100 of Kenney Fresno's songs. Many special guests were in attendance, including the builder of Kenney Fresno's instrument; Mark Warr of Warr Guitars.
The club filled up in the early afternoon with an assortment of friends, musicians, and curious onlookers, with many more packing in as the clock neared midnight. Having only taken a 5-minute break around 6:00PM Kenney Fresno appeared even more energized as the room filled with enthusiastic supporters ready to witness this historic event.
With over 100 original compositions to play, it took until 11PM before Brian Kenney Fresno could entertain the many requests from the crowd. The final song of the evening was StickWarr; the epic story of the origins of the instrument Kenney Fresno plays.
Brian Kenney Fresno would like to thank the people of Fresno for their rousing show of support that far exceeded his wildest expectation. He also wants to especially thank all of the Volunteers who helped make it all happen (some of whom stayed the entire time), and was very touched that so many people brought their Fathers out. Brian is extremely happy with the showing from the community and the tidal wave of encouragement all along the way. He feels that Fresno finally "gets it", and that in a way it was his first actual show in Fresno.
Kenney Fresno also wants to specifically thank Mike Osegueda and the Fresno Bee for supporting the music scene, and writing such a lovely piece last Thursday, June 18th. The article in the Bee undoubtedly brought out a lot of people, and put such a boost in his self-esteem that he returned to referring to himself in the third person.
Kenney Fresno also gives a special thanks to Channel 30 for doing such a great job of same day coverage. Brian was very impressed with the editing that specifically highlighted the Phrase "Like the cultural revolution that's going on in Fresno". Great job guys, thank you!
One thing he did want to address is the statement Channel 30 made regarding his show not being about music, but more about performance art. While Brian Kenney Fresno is flattered that many say his performance skills bring it to an art form, he maintains that it is ALL about the Music (capital M), and had merely declined to state his musical genre, as he refuses to ignore any of them and writes for all of them.
Brian also wants to especially thank Patrick Contreras for inviting him to perform at his big concert on Saturday, in order to help Kenney Fresno promote his marathon the next day.
Brian would also like to thank Chuck Leonard and the entire staff at Central Valley Talk for promoting the local music scene in general and Brian Kenney Fresno in particular.
Brian Kenney Fresno has 3 self produced CD's and several DVD's to his credit, and will be embarking on the West coast leg of his "Believe The Hype - Smell The Magic Tour 2009” in early July.
