Word is the Babylon has a new owner/manager and is trying to diversify its musical offerings, which looks to be the case. They hosted Buck O' Nine earlier this month and we hadn't played there iin a good two years or more.

As a performer, I was impressed. Show started, pretty much on time with a decent crowd. The sound was good (both on stage and off). The sound guy was super friendly and helpful. As a spectator, pretty much the same. Good sounds, good bands. I played a couple games of pool in between the sets.

Our set: We ran a little longer than normal. Played 14 or so songs, mostly stuff from the 7-inch (out Aug. 2). I made a joke about babies being like little drunks that didn't get any laughs and probably wasn't funny, but only because people haven't seen this video. Shirt came off. It was hot on stage. All in all, we well received by a crowd that hadn't seen us in years (or ever).

Slander (couldn't find a link, sorry): Slander is a band we played with some back in the day. They're from Reedley. Not sure if they've been on hiatus or what, but started to play shows again apparently. They brought it. The band has a thrash-punk skate vibe in the vein of Suicidal Tendencies. Highlight: A cover of Fugazi's "Waiting Room."

Sawtooth: I wrote about these guys (and girl) a while back. They seemed a little more on the heavy side this time around (in a totally good way). That could have something to do with the sound of the room, I dunno. They brought out some fans who were seriously enjoying the show and that's always infectious. Not to be sexist, but here I go: there are not enough lady-led rock bands in Fresno, I say.

The Remedy: Sadly, I missed this set. If someone else was there, please fill us in.
