Bill Bruce will be exhibiting an eclectic combination of paintings, three dimensional works, and photographs at Fig Tree Gallery during August 2007. This promises to be an exciting and provocative art experience. The title of the exhibit, "Eat the Feeling" comes from a photo Bill took in Seattle some 15 years ago, and captures the intent of this show....he wants the visitors to consume the emotion and feelings of the artist in putting this exhbit together.
The "rescue me" implication deals with most of the contents of the exhibit which includes discarded items that were tossed away, but rescued by Bill.
They include male mannequin torsos, and two large fiberglass molds that have been transformed into sarcaphogus tributes of Egyptian like relics.
Even the photographs deal with stains left on sidewalks after removal of large concrete planters commonly found in front of stores in shopping centers. These stains, now long gone, were rescued by his camera.
Normally Bill hosts visitors to his studio at 1752 Van Ness at ArtHop, but his studio will be closed for August ArtHop so he can be part of his opening at Fig Tree Gallery, located at Van Ness and Mono in downtown Fresno. Fig Tree Gallery is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, noon till 4.
In addition to Art Hop, August 2, Bill is hosting a reception and conversation with the Artist on Sunday, August 5 from 1 to 3 pm.
Many of you are probably familiar with Bill's non objective paintings,
his doll photographs, top ramen and toaster art. This exhibit will carry on his tradition of presenting exciting, and edgy art for your enjoyment.
More information on this exhibit can be found at his website, www.billbruceartist.com .
ALso, catch Bill at 90.7 Thursday mornings from 6 till 9 playing his favorite jazz selections.
