It's official, this is mural week.

On Tuesday, Creative Fresno and Arte Americas held a mindforum on the matter, and tonight, the Muralistics are celebrating the completion of its latest at 1724 Broadway, just across from the Rainbow Ballroom.

If you haven't seem it, it is a minimilist ode to downtown, crafted in dull greys with simple red accents. It's definitely not the usual mural district fare, which makes it a wonderful addition in the area.

The celebration runs from 7 to 9 p.m. in the parking lot behind Tokyo Garden (just look for the mural), and will include music from Lance Canales & the Flood with Jake Finney from Motel Drive sitting in. Poet Lawson Fusao Inada will be reading and there will be a DJ set from Humans. There will be a dance battle. Also: a taco stand, icy sweet organic paletas and art booths.

AND: After that the grown-up in the group can go on in to Tokyo Garden for the Mural Afterparty, featuring more music from Canales along with a set from punk-rockers It'll Grow Back. In case you missed them last weekend (or just can't get enough). That'll start at 9 p.m. and cost you five bones (it's a donation to the Muralistics).
