Punk rock bands are still releasing vinyl records in this day and age of the ubiquitous MP3. It's a rare thing for a band to release a phonograph record and rarer still, the 7-inch or 45 record. At least with a full-length, 12-inch LP you can charge a lot more and hope to recoup some of your cost, but with a 7-inch you can only charge a few dollars and it becomes relatively expensive for the record label per unit.
But, oh the fun of the small record with the big hole! And when you get a whole box of them, all lined up with their alphabetical header cards they're such fun to thumb through. Invest some real time and effort into collecting 7-inchers and you can have several hundred of them lined up in little boxes. It's an impressive sight. They can spin at 45rpm or 33rpm, (45 is louder). They can be colored vinyl or black, picture discs, odd-shaped discs and flexi-discs. They can have one song per side, or as with the IGB release have 3 songs per side and it becomes an Extended Play or EP, and voila! it becomes a good value for the buyer. 6 songs for a few dollars is a pretty good deal.
Josh and the boys have been at it for several years now and have built up a faithful following who have come to enjoy the energetic, entertaining antics of his various levels of disrobing as they go through their blistering set of millenial hardcore punk. The ocassional wacky outfits add to the charm of this band of fun-loving dudes.
Miles and miles of smiles were at the Tokyo Garden for the release party of this cool little record a few weeks ago. You can't help but laugh and have a good time when they're having such a good time. Rock on!
