Fresno Famous

So, aside from Mike and I (and really it was just me) it looks like people don't want to post videos of themselves stuffing their faces on the internet (you can put your own porn joke here).

Well, we still managed to wrangle some folks for our Ultimate Fair Food Feast Off, happening 6 p.m., tomorrow at the BIG Fresno Fair. Here's a quick introduction to the competitors, our own tale of the tape:  

Richard Franco/29/on-air personality at New Rock 104 and 95.7 the Fox

• Favorite fair food: Funnel cakes and corndogs
• Why he might win: He's competed in two chicken-wing eating contests, so he's familiar with the idea. Plus, he finished the Baron of Higuera Burger at F. McLintock's, so we know he likes to eat. Also, this video.

Danielle Rondero(@missdoodahday)/30-something/singer for the band King Sugar

• Favorite fair food: Corndogs and cinnamon rolls
• Why she might win: Admittedly, she's mostly in it for the free fair food, which makes her a bit of a dark-horse.

Brooke Fletcher/29/medical assistant/musician/Zombie Creepshow queen

• Favorite fair food: Anything deep fried
• Why she might win: She once ate a foot-long bacon-wrapped hot dog and a whole Marie Calendar's chocolate pie (we assume not in the same sitting). Also, her husband said she wouldn't win and spite is a powerful thing.

Phil Ciapponi/35/Quality assurance supervisor

• Favorite fair food: Corn dog
• Why he might win: Though this is his first eating contest and he entered on a dare, he has intestinal fortitude. He finshed the French Toast plate at Tony's I-75 in Birch Run, MI. That's a half load of bread with a 1-pound side of bacon.

So, who will win? Come to the Fresno Bee booth at the Fair and find out.Will it turn into a scene from "Stand by Me?" One can only hope.
