Fresno Famous is turning into...

..."a website dedicated to [fighting human spam bots]."

This is fun, but I think FF users are tiring of it quickly :-p

Good Job on Lowering Spam

I wasn't sure if it was just me or not, but yes, I'd say things have been pretty spam free the past few days. Thanks to those responsible!

zzzzZAP! (good news for spam eaters)

Have you noticed that the last couple of days here
in FresnoFamousLand have been a lot less cluttered
by those Spam Makers? Hats off to FresnoWhitewater
and all behind the scenes for making this happen!

I like the idea of...

No links to outside web pages in registered user names along with the idea of no URL's for unregistered users. That really should do tha trick...at least enough to make it tolerable. CAPTCHA is more annoying than tha implementation of these ideas would be.

I'm tired of reading a spurt of something I've already read, just to find out that it was a copy and paste job by a spammer. Grrr.

I'd say zero URL links for non-registered/unverified users. See how the spammers respond, and cut them off if they register and continue to spam. I'm sure that's easier said than done, but it'd be less draconian than shutting comments off altogether for unregistered users. Granted, it won't completely solve the problem, but I bet it would mitigate it quite a bit.

registered users only

I solve this issue the not registered user should not be allowed to post comments only registered users.

and if the administrator, webdesigner here can get CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart) to work properly then that would help.

years ago when Jarah started this site I told her that I could not select and copy text, using IE, she said she did not have the problem since I think she used another browser. But there is some program script on this site that prevents the ability of a user to select text, making it impossible to copy the text from the web page.

(disabling right click, printing, and text copy).
maybe that script kept the Captcha from working correctly when it was tried on here.

spam squisher idea

I shoulda posted this over here instead of where I did...but..

Our New Spam Friends all seem to link to outide websites via their usernames.
All the 'real' posters just have the default linking to their own FF accounts.

Maybe if there was a way for The Powers That Be to disable this ability for people to make their user names into links to the outside, it might
foil their tiresome plans.

???

.

It is kinda fun

I like to think of it as a lesson in tolerance. Seems like most know which posters are spammers.

So we know, do not click their names. That is how they get paid. Let us not pay them.
