I wonder how many people actually read Fresno Famous???
I've been talking to people about Fresno Famous. I would love to know how many people view this sight. Also, what type of people. The great thing, would be a whole bunch of people from young to old, from white to black, from man to, I guess, women?? That last one didn't really flow. So, whatever you want to divulge, I think we're all interested in the people behind the screen name. Like orange bear, that's an interesting one.
I will sound off: Married white Female. 34. Northeast. Mother of three with law degree. The law degree came in handy recently when I put my two year old on trial for attempting to put a fork in the microwave and turn it on. Sure, I didn't see her do it, but I know it was her! My four year old didn't know who to believe, it was a hung jury.
Now it's your turn!

Ahhhhh zombie thread!!!
Um since it's be brought back from the dead I'll introduce myself.
Name is Michael, not married but have a wonderful girlfriend whom I've been with for the past four years. I work in an architecture firm in an office in downtown Fresno. I love looking for anything paranormal, though I don't believe half the stories told to me. I enjoy car racing, but I can't afford a real race car so I drive RC ones. Been here in the Valley all my life and don't want to leave. I believe Fresno is capable of some great things, just that people can't escape the "we want to be a big city but have a small town mentality".
an old friend
I knew you way back when - Clark Intermediate and then Clovis High. My maiden name was Holden back then but has been Beal for the past 11years. I am now a mom to two adorable and energetic boys and a four legged lab. Work outside the home doing a job I love. Anyway, saw your signs around town and looked you up on line. You have done well for yourself - CONGRATS! Good luck in the election ahead!

dear god, I go off to selma and a concert breaks out...
Rob, this is magnificent.
(May be repainting truck, --can I interest you in a bicycle?)
And please.
Immolation over a wal*mart is just so wrong on so many levels, (and not the easiest of acts to clean up from, nor come on after...
I daresay that there are far more then Eight readers on your pages, (as well as this string,) --lookie, in... what, less than two to three days, you've got two pages of entries, with a myriad more looking on.
Without getting all misty, I daresay that you've posessing quite the spark that's been needed for quite some time, (no pun intended on the human tiki-torch for the big yellow smiley face...)
There's nothing like a good sonata or nocturn cranked out in the night air... (and there really aren't any bugs around here so to speak, so it should be a lovely event...
hats off to you sir.
Campfire songs!!
Just don't damage the bulldozers, okay Rob, thanks!
Man I hope the sarcasm is coming across or people will think I'm an ass. Well let's be honest, I can be!!
But in all seriousness, I have been on your road Rob, after I saw your story in the Bee. I will admit I had never been over there before, but then again there are alot of roads in Fresno I have never been on. So I wasn't necessarily avoiding it. Wish you the best of luck and think what your doing is great!!
As for downtown, I am very involved with what goes on. I try to support the business' as much as I can. I think the only way downtown will ever see a resurgence is for folks to spend their money here. Until that happens, all the public works projects in the world won't revitalize downtown. Of course that is just my opinion.
Your Humble Dictator,
Abe
My councilperson feels more comfy chatting with dead folks.....
Rob DeFrees
So you hear voices, me too, just do not talk back to......as to my councilperson, the only voice she hears are her own and dead folks. Now that is odd.
See that you loved the poems on my site. As you can see even my friends find it a bit hard to read poetry. Welcome, and except for Skater23 looking for a fox, think most have just taken to you. I am going to have a cook up with Skater23, and am right curious to meet. Wonder if he will be eying all of the ladies and not listening to MOI.
And I will let LaChola know more about the "Evening of Music" could use al of the help offered. She too has joined my website.
There are folks who would love you.........
Rob DeFrees
There are folks on Calaveras that would help you tear down the homes, even the historic ones, as they want to make buckets of cash. I will sit in the road and set self on fire before I let that happen.
Calaveras is going to be best road to live on!!!!
Bloody brilliant guess
Rob DeFrees
You must be clever(well, you do get paid to write), it was indeed that comment that got folks to match me up. What with "out of the void" offering to fetch me in a truck, and not knowing if the lady was indeed female, it all sort of got very confusing. Ms. Jorgensen and I are not item, however lovely the lady is, am well past my dating days and I do march to a different tune. Right confusing, but was a giggle.
unless we're counting the voices in our heads...
I'm thinking it just might be...
Noooo, it can't be.... can it?
Where'd all the other people go that introduced themselves?
So, am I correct in guessing ....
That the answer to the question that started this whole thread is eight?
I LOVE YOU!
Anyone who asks me about rollerderby gets one free kiss.....
Actually my friend started the league almost 3 years ago. She wasnt my friend before derby but she found me on myspace; i guess i look like i'd be tough, and asked me to join. now we are like sisters!!!
i accepted immediately. as time went by i became a better skater and have been in 5 of the 6 bouts we've competed in. I am also the Public Relations Officer/Event Coordinator for our league.
We skate all over California and in June we'll skate against a team in Reno. This season we have 5 bouts, 4 here in Fresno.
We skate at the Valdez Hall at the Convention Center....gotta keep it DOWNTOWN!!!!
our season opening bout is March 29 @ 7pm. Our bouts are always on Saturdays and once you see a bout, YOU WILL NEVER STOP LOVING DERBY!!!
we are true athletes first, eye candy second and ass kickers third. Its a total family affair with attendance of over 1,100 people ages 1 year old to 100 years old!
Seriously, Fresno is the reason we do this! Fresno supports us soo much.
Check out our myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/fresnoderbygirls
you can link to Lola la chola from there to see me in action!
How did you become a roller girl?
JoeJoe- How did you become a roller girl?
Where do you girls' race? I'd love to come see you girls kick some butt!!
Evening of Music
That sounds wonderful. Count me in.
Uh, Rob, i read your blog about your friend who had a street party in front of Kern St. Coffee Co about 8 years ago. Im not one to correct someone, lets all wallow in our ignorance is my motto, but if you were referring to John Baker, uh, i dont think he'd appreciate you telling anyone he's 58 when he's actually much younger. The party we held was for the grand re-opening of his espresso bar.
When his partner left for other business ventures, he hired me to manage his shop. i came in full force. he had the big ideas, i had the wheels in my brain to move it ahead. he broke down walls, figuratively and literally and widened the cafe. he revamped the menu and myself and the other staff members went to work getting to know the clientele, taking names and addresses and organizing what turned out to be the best street party on Kern Street.
We got a local blues band, jazz band and latin jazz band to play, set up tables and fenced off the street. we had one of our best customers fix up some mean bbq and we partied all night long. THAT WAS THE BEST TIME!!!!
and it reintroduced Kern Street Coffee Co. to downtown Fresno. Kern Street Coffee Co had quite a run and if i hadnt been wooed away by some big money'd attorney (cuz im a single mom remember!) i'd like to think i'd still be with John right now, moving on in whatever venture of his choice! i love him.
soo basically im singing my praises because ultimately im offering my services. if you need my help for your Evening of Music, i have some experience doing so.
call on me.
okay i tried..
to be nice, but you mess with either booze or football and you'll leave me choice to launch my plan of tearing out Calaveras St. and put in a Super Walmart. That will show you!
Sanctions
I think sanctions placed on alcohol and The Dallas Cowboys will drive press2901 out from his enclave.
Seriously, it was not too long ago that San Diego's downtown was in worse shape and more dangerous to boot than Fresno's so I know it can be done in here, perfect weather or not. Just yesterday the City Council passed the initial step in bringing PBID (Property Based Business District) to downtown. It is a self assessed tax on the downtown property owners who then decide how best that money should be used: graffiti removal, signage, festivals etc. Sacramento's Old Town uses a PBID now 12 years strong and continue to vote to allow themselves to be taxed at the rate of $2,000,000. If done correctly it can do wonders.
"Evening Of Music" on Calaveras Street
Rob DeFrees
I am still waiting on confirmation of the date. Looks to be May 10. It will be LIVE JAZZ AND CLASSICAL. The interest on my website has been massive. More than 1500 have said they are keen on it happening and would like to attend. New found friends have come forward and offered to help with the cost of toilets, food, beverages and other things. Coppers are helping me walk through the permit process.
The road is to be blocked from Voorman to McKenzie and it will be from 4pm to 7pm. The entire city of Fresno will be welcome to come onto my road and meet me and my neighbors. As a play on the fact that drug dealers sat in lawn chairs last year, am telling all to bring a lawn chair to sit in to enjoy the music. How bloody brilliant is that?
I walk the walk, along with talk the talk. I am passionate about my road and downtown. Mind, my ego is not massive, and any who want to help with this event are welcome to do so. Downtown Fresno is ordinary folks doing extraordinary things. Bigger the politicians, and the negative folks who will do nothing save complain.
evening music...
(raises head, looks stymied...)
Rob:
You planning on some live music?
Say on...
I'm bout ready to plunk down 240.00 for the symphony playing bugsbunny tunes... (well, they're throwing in the cartoons to see too...)
-what you got cookin?
(no word yet, if we're going to be allowed to watch the show at the saroyan on Sat. (matinee) in our jammies... dusting off the stuffed bear just in case...)
Let's launch rockets in press2901's "green zone"
Rob DeFrees
Andy, you should join my band of militants and we will set about breaking down the walls of press2901's downtown. Bet press2901 does not come onto my road for any reason. Part of the problem I have found with downtown is that it has no soul in the body it wants to be. There are folks living in it, but not to the degree that it has come to life.
Many is the time I have gone for walks in the downtown area, and been shocked at how few folks venture out. And when it starts to get dark, it is a ghost town. When the good folks do not use the streets, it paves the way for the less than welcome members of society to make their presence known.
Strikes me as odd that San Diego was able to re-invent the downtown area, San Francisco has, Los Angeles to some degree. Fresno seems to just sit back and wait for a miracle to happen.
The "Evening of Music" I plan for Calaveras Street will bring many in Fresno to the downtown area that they have been in for some time. When all of the folks come they will long remember being downtown. Should think that makes me more responsible for change downtown that press2901, and Andy, since you and I already speak Swahili, we will talk in tongues and have to issue a passport to press2901 to become part of the NEW DOWNTOWN.
Dictator of Downtown
I agree with downtown being to big. When I (single handedly) change downtown, I will only consider the area in which the streets run at a 45 degree angle to be downtown. You folks that live a north-south type of lifestyle just wouldn't "get it" when it comes to downtown issues. You need to be a little off-kilter. Of course I'm way off-kilter, so I fit right in!
Don't worry Andy, when it all goes bad (and it will), I'll appoint you my own version of "Baghdad Bob". What do you say?
Right cheeky, the lot of you!
Rob DeFrees
When I mentioned that I had found a motor on my road, it meant the entire car, not just the engine!
I agree with mike oz, the "let's fix one up" was quite a lot to take in, must have side tracked folks.
Right clever to see folks trying to define "downtown". I must be special, the road I live on is so famous, due to the past, that all in Fresno do believe it is downtown. Should think folks who live downtown must feel like they are stranded on an island. Have gone for a walk at night and it is odd to see just how quiet the roads in the downtown area.
There have been some members of my site who have told me that they have read the comments on here and think it was smashing fun. Regular funnyman I seemed to them, not to mention the folks who tried to get me a date.
(raising hand, slowly, much tired... long day)
Rob,
I like your sight, er... Site.
Was most impressed with the whole 'finding of a stolen engine,' thing.
..thought to my self, no there's a fellow with bollocks of stone.
(still, do be careful, some of the folks who are into filching motors (and worse,) do have a few sharp edges.
...gads, that was nearly a haiku

(Agree with the lot of you about others understanding your dreams and such, I personally think it's a bit too 'west coast,' for me.
Though I don't like to be rude about it, I share, listen, and if nobody else links up... that's fine (not all dogs bark in unison, but the all have the right to bark...
(odd statement being a cat owner, but there it is.)

but this may be a blessing in desguise, as I'll have someone to blame it on... (brilliant, genius, sooooper genius...)
PPPS--Another Rogue thing not to be missed (hopefully they will not sell out.)
Since we're a bunch of music freaks, er, afficianados.
They're doing full orchestra playing the music of Bugs Bunny,
-with the cartoon shown on the wall behind... -going after my 4 seats tomorrow...
HIGHLY Recommend this (it's next week sometime,) --was a monster hit on Broadway and was sold out nearly each performance... (here it's happening only twice...)
-chop-chop.
PPP, (that's a lot of P) S
and sweet dreams the lot of you.
I Know Vallyisforlovers is correct but...
I know technically the east side of R St. is downtown but that means press2901 wins I can't have that. He thinks it makes his opinion in downtown matters more important than mine and I am only six blocks farther east then he is. It is not fair ;) Plus our downtown is way too big if you include everything within the freeway triangle of 180, 41, and 99. I think it needs to be more concentrated around Fulton Mall. If press2901 lived in Sandra Kings condos then he has a case to be dictator of all things downtown.Until then , not a chance. He does have good ideas for downtown though.
no more than I would in person
A lot? Ha! You should meet me... I suffer many bruises from my wife due to my inability to stop sharing. But hey, if you were this intense, you'd share too! People need to know!
Down with hiding one's self! Transparency is the best policy!!!
Viva the... something.
He did
It was on the first page -- it might have gotten lost in the battle of the cooing prose.
press2901, Have you Introduced yourself?
Maybe I missed it, but you need to introduce yourself to become a part of the blog. I think it's only fair. Just ask Tell Tale, he's disclosed a lot! Anyway, if you have, then I apologize, otherwise, fess up.
Ha!!
Take that Andy!!!
The east side of R Street
Although suburban looking in nature, the east side of R Street is MOST definitely considered to be part of downtown!
Yes, we may have a gated complex, interior open space, and too much parking...
But it is too considered downtown.
Just check the maps!
Central Area Community Plan
Mariposa Redevelopment Plan
It wouldn't be the downtown triangle without the east side of R Street...it would be some other, weird shape.
nevermind...
Sorry Rob, I was talking out my arse.
I'm already accepted and registered on thy website.
Sweet!
Well...
I love it. I'm a big fan of simplicity (not to the point of minimalism) and I value content more than appearance. Your website is awesome. I love the main feed on the front page, and I love how it's community based (IE it's a meeting place for people as opposed to a website where you talk and others just listen)
Until I actually get approved for membership (handle that soon Rob...) I won't be able to make comments about much else... I'm sure it's fantastic though. Good job.
Did you build it yourself, or hire someone to do it?
Am curious
Rob DeFrees
As you are into websites would be right curious to hear what you thought of mine.
Invite to Tell Tale and others
Rob DeFrees
I think you should give my website a look in. The folks there are of many ages and backgrounds, and they do like to chat and bang on with me and others. It is a bit tame compared to here but am always proud of the interesting things they have to say.
It costs bugger all to join and there are no adverts. Joining allows you to post comments and it can be a right good giggle at times. There are some thread that have been viewed over 500 times. We have polls and I am always posting new stories. It may seem at odd to read about an old geezer and his road, but it seems to make folks stop and think.
Clever and cheeky is much appreciated there. www.calaverasstreet.com is the place. I have members that read here as well.
ah schools
Mystery solved Watson...
I was home schooled up until I was 15, at which point I graduated high school and embarked upon a college education. I dropped out just before obtaining my GE (General Education... Another term for barely smart enough to survive on one's own), and took a job offered to me by my friend (thus how I am a web developer).
I believe the home schooling offers a satisfactory explanation as to why I may be slightly more well read than your typical twenty year old...
Though for the life I me I still have no idea who the hell "Chingy" is...
Still, I'll take literary knowledge over pop culture knowledge any day of the week. Except on pop culture day when Jeopardy is on...
...have not thought of Cole in this role...hmmmm
...but please...
Ms. Callas is an acquired taste (I recall La MamaMorta from the 'Philadelphia' soundtrack (tremendous film, difficult subject, seeing it in Phila, having a whole theatre weep... (not exactly a happy time, but moving none-the-less)
I'm in love with her readings of 'La Wally' and the 'Ave Maria' (from Otello)
--though her more trad. Schubert is also quite nice...
(As she's been paws up for quite sometime, I've never really been that interested in how she looked... just figured she looked, well, sort of... dead. (I mean, cute, but dead... maybe a bit boney at this point, though I suppose the hair has come in nicely.)
If we were going on looks?
I'd have to say I favored Renee' Fleming... (though her voice is not quite Ms. Callas)
(TellTale: I'll check into that M. Buble and Secret suggestion.)
Rob: you have my word sir:
I'll keep an eye out and consult with a few of the ducks in my line-up sporting sharp plumage... (now there's a euphamism, eh?)
And if I find someone qualified, who's looking for a gent with a dangerously seductive accent... I'll send them along.(scouts honor.)
You are also quite the lucky one in that:
in a few short days, the Rogue will be in full swing,
--and the streets will be teeming with any one of a number of interesting flora and fauna...
(Honestly, it is an amazing thing, I'll get you a map and directions on who to check up on if you'd like...)
Touche
Rob DeFrees
And who says reading is dead with young folks. I should have thought that Robert Frost was a bit datred, as tastes in schools change and was curious that you have.
I too have always had a problem with folks not buying into my dreams, but it never stopped me. I still have dreams. The wildest is going back to the UK and knelling before the Queen and receiving an OBE.
Just another of Fagan's
Calling me a 'young lad' only lends to my daydreaming of becoming one of Fagan's legendary lads. Who wouldn't want to nick some silk from an unsuspecting individual...
Okay perhaps a lot of people don't share my dreams.. That's fine... there's not enough room for everyone in them anyways...
And why shouldn't a lad of my age be reading Frost? A good read that is! Though, Yehuda Amichai is also a good one... Though for the life of me I could never get into Kipling...
And before the red pencils fly..........
Rob DeFrees
I do not spell check all of my words when I bang on. I just let it flow, and hope that most will understand the word. Bloody hell, on here all seem to have a bloody red pencil at the ready to correct spelling. Must be a bit hard to bang on key board, balance the dictionary, beverage.
You do tend to bang on a bit.......
Rob DeFrees
I am gobsmacked!!!!! The young lad(it is what one calls one of a certain age) reads Robert Frost!!!! And "Out of the Void" loves Maria Callas? How would have thought that Robert Frost would appeal to him, I am actually quite fond of Walt Whitman, and I am old enough to have watched Robert Frost try to read a poem at the JFK innagural(I am an old geezer). As to the Maria Callas, that is indeed odd. She has been dead these many years and her best work in on rather poor quality records. Frankly, I never did like her. I always thought she looked like an overmade up shrew.
At 44, should think the chap had learned a thing or two in courting a lady. Is a bit lame to use ones that are true to self. Think most ladies see through. Mind, he does have someone and that is more than me. If he is of a mind to use Elvis Costello, should thing the Cole Porter, "Ain't Misbehaving" would be unique.
I quite understand the young lad's desire for attention. I use language in the manner I do to call atteention to self.
The chore of reading this chap's post is that it is like dodging shotgun pellets as he fires so much verbage in each post.
My advice?
Depending of course, on your lady's taste
1. a romantic walk in the park at sunset followed up by
2. dinner at a nice restaurant (italian has always been a favorite of mine)
3. back to your place (or hers... or somewhere else...) with music
3a. Perhaps some Michael Buble. If you can find how to get it there's some amazing music by The Secret (look for them on myspace... http://www.myspace.com/luke817. Mmmm, shameless plugging of bands)
No worries about the gender thing. I'm used to it... I have too pretty a face for a guy, the inability to grow facial hair and to top it all off, I once had long hair. You have no idea how many times I was referred to as ma'am...
of all the things I've been accused of...
overly sane is not one of them...
Wretchedly honest... though,
almost nearly as I am long-winded.
...okay, I suppose I'm quite nuts... (Don't hold my family responsible, Mom really did try...)
It's the lack of seasons...
I've found that snow and ice bring on good mental health,
(that and a gazillion dried leaves blowing around, actual reasons to wear sweaters and such...) --not just 'hot-n-fog.' Put me up to these lovely 116 degree days, and I take no responsibility, usually tie myself up to the back porch and hose down every other hour,
(sniff) nobody wants the movie rights...
(TellTale: I like that reading of the missus poetry and such... rose petals and candles and the whole lot... Nice work if you can get it...)
So, sorry, up to that last post I thought you were of the fairer sex... though any man who croons, recites frost, and wins his lady with the wiles of you is one to be endorsed wholeheartedly.)
---pssst: try some Pablo Neruda... some find it depressing, but others, well, that and a little Barry White before hand...
(...lets just say that you'll be in certain peril...)
Having a serious girl these recent hours,
I do need to dust off the bag of tricks, perhaps upgrade my repoirtoir (sp?)
(ah, the good old days when all a fella had to do was throw on some Joe Jackson or early Genesis on the record player, offer a decent backrub, and the evening itinerary was covered... (throw in a pizza and halfway decent bottle of vino, and you were in a fools paradise...)
Hmmm, perhaps that one may still work...
(May have to sub in some Elvis Costello (Painted From Memory?) -but 'Night and Day,' or 'Selling England by the Pound.' may still have it's charm...
...there's always Roxy Music's Avalon.
...nah.
I'll stick with the Maria Callas...
Romantic?
Possibly... I have done the rose petals, as well as the candles. And to top it all off, I read her poetry as well. Just a few Frost pieces though, nothing over the top.
Playing music in public is awesome because
A. my wife doesn't have to hear every sub-par song I've written one million times over, and
B. It keeps the hope alive that someone will think I actually know what I'm doing and make my wildest dreams of becoming an indie music deity a reality...
Actually I just enjoy sharing music...
And attention... I love attention. And since running around naked, screaming "fresno? Fres-yes!" has been deemed somewhat "socially unacceptable", I stick to my music...
So far the only accurate screen name.......
Rob DeFrees
Being a wickedly cheeky bloke I do enjoy one who is. Having said that, am not quite sure if "out of the void" is a complete nutter or having a go at us. He does spring some odd bit at us. Shock value, you think?
I have always used my real name as a screen name, lack of originality? It interesting to see folks chat on here, and must tell true, the screen names seem apt.
Only a straight lad would give a think on.....
Rob DeFrees
Only a straight lad would wonder why the shorts do not come off. I never gave it a thought. Perhaps that is the one part of the Hulk's body that does not grow, giving new meaning to "not much there".
Brilliant
Rob DeFrees
You be of some note, as you dare to play in public, or do you wish the "Gong Show" was still around and they will "gong" you?
Twenty, married and love chamber music..........hmmmmm, a closet romantic. Bet you are the sort of chap who lights candels and spreads rose petals about for wife on specials days.
Tangential discussion
You forgot the third category of people who enjoy random conversations as well as the people who start them. Like people who randomly start talking about Vegas...
Those people are thinking "Damn, the hulk's shorts must be made of kevlar, cause when he turns into the hulk, they're the only piece of clothing not torn by his giant green frame..."
Wait... how do those shorts stay intact?
Where's Orange Bear???
I want to know who the man or women is behind Orange Bear. How did you come up with that name? It's pretty interesting. I think that I take the cake for the most boring name yet. You know, as soon as you decide to run for political office you have to watch every word you say. It's really constraining!!! I was wondering, when elected, am I still able to let my hair down when I go to Vegas and dance all night long with friends? Is that frowned upon? I hope not, because everyone will be very disappointed in me. I'm not a big gambler, but Vegas is like Disneyland for adults. I really need a vacation, I'm talking about Vegas for no reason at all and everyone is probably shaking there head's saying "Who cares!" Oh... unless they love Vegas too. Then there nodding there heads saying, "Vegas Baby!!!!"
I'm here!
I just thought i'd let you all shower affection on all the other lovely ladies who had the spunk to speak up!
but since you were looking.......keep the intro's coming! this is by far the most enlightening thread yet!
its nice to know who we're chatting with behind the screen names!
What style?
Sadly, 'tis just myself and my guitar. What is even more of a travesty is that I'm not even that good! (okay I suppose I'm alright...)
I do love chamber music though...
....german again
or is it Fresnaburgher Meister-Burger...
(careful, Rob... you know how those folks with dashes in their last names can be...)
To quote Ren (of Ren and Stimpy,) Andy is 'one of the goot ones, man.'
-Honestly sir, I can't remember a time where so many regular writers came out of the woodwork -and on such good behavior at that...
You really have a gift of coaxing out quite the bunch...
(speaking of which: totally off subject, but STILL)
-After quite a few restaurants of late that have been a complete yawn in terms of excellent chow (dinner wise,)
I've discovered something good (really good, and local taboot.)
IF'n you like Thai Food (real Thai)
Saddle thine arse and get thee to 'thai House,' up here on First and shaw (just yonder to the East of Fashion Fare,) --it's next to a Pizza joint and in between Longs Drugs and the new Ross.
They're the first Thai place in the valley, been here for almost thirty years, is (admittedly) slightly long in the tooth in terms of interior, ---but lovingly kept up, quaint and comfy, --and the food is out of this world (you like spicey? I practically needed a towel the sweat was pouring off (okay not appetizing,) --But even the Non-Spicey was completely to die for, the staff were friendly, the atmosphere quite cozy, --and we got out of there (two entrees, two desserts, two Thai Beers,) for just over Fifty bucks, ---and decided it was to be our second month anniversary dinner (it was that good.)
Seriously, you can both eat and eat well for prolly under 40, or so, and it's the best Thai I've had this side of Manhattan.
(just thought I'd float that out there...)
--Fresburgh, Fresburg, Fresneaux, Fresno by the Sea... (it's four hours, but you can sorta see it...) The dusty grape, The dusty Raisin... (there are more.)
Rob... just in case I missed it...
-what brought you to these here parts?
Surely can't be the way we butcher the queens tongue, (though, truth be told, people actually talk somewhat reasonably out here...
(NewYawkers are an affront to all things pronuncitory...prehensatory? Perchance a Tory?
Nothing built above two story?
Oh well, sir, you get the picture...
Oh yeah, get ready for:
-the use of 'gal,' for anyone female above the age of 50...
Um,
and guys out here named Richard, for some bizarre reason also go by the name 'Dick,' --(god only knows why.) Even have a sporting goods store named 'Dicks.' (I've never been able to see a huge lit up sign that says that and been able to keep a straight face...)
Everything (even the cats,) have 'just a little,' chihuahua in their lineage...
--all these and other glories just await you, I can assure you.
(And I think you can refer to folks as 'right wankers,' all day, and they'll havn't a clue, and not be the least offended.. (well, okay, maybe not the police.)
--and no matter how much gin you imbibe, I'd recommend NOT walking out to the helicopter that circles over, spotlight on,
in the middle of the night,
waking you from your slumber, only to shake a fist, drop trou and holler '...how's yer father, ay?!! while mooning them.
(just trust me on this.)
They only forgive that sort of thing once, maybe twice, and I'd hate to loose you in the daily scrimmage.
(Though I bet Lola and the girls would be quite pleased to show the video it on a big screen in back of them while they roll around defeating and deflating a rival team...)
I'd mail you a cake with a file in it.
...come to think of it, Joey, where've you run off to?
At Least Get tthe Spelling Correct
OOTV: At least get the spelling correct if you are going to stay in Fresno a bit longer. It is spelled Fresburg not Fresburgh...
And Abe I believe the east side of "R St" is not downtown Fresno. Now Calaveras St. is definitely downtown.
This has been a good blog! I hope more people introduce themselves.
no dress for me
The last time I wore a dress was Nov,5 1994 at my sisters wedding. The only reason I wore one then was because I was in her wedding and she wouldn't let me wear pants.LOL I'm more a a pants/shorts kind of person.
I used to have long brown hair and every so often I would have a flower in it. My long hair is long gone, as it falls out now ;-(
Never barefoot as I love shoes. My partner says I'm a centipede with all my tenny shoes. If you point me in the direction of some comfy Reeboks under $20 I'll be found there.
I wish I had a huge backyard. I miss that as I moved from 10 rural acres to a small corner lot. I guess I got a pool and that is a so so trade. I prefer room to run as I like to play outside with my critters. 3 dogs 2 cats.
