Write us a Haiku and be in our RogueShow!

Hello!
We need your Haiku for our Rogue Festival show.
The show is "Sprawlzilla vs. Mainstreet".
It features local songwriter Blake Jones, his daughter Chelsea,
and me! (I play "Mr. Practical"---hey SOMEbody had to.)

---anyways, there's a Haiku moment (it's very special....we even use bongos).

Here's the deal, you write us a haiku and the three we like best
we include in our show, and ALL of the others get put into our
"Haiku Bucket" which will be drawn from, and those drawn will also
be read in our show. Oh boy oh boy oh BOY!

For our pursposes, (and apologies to folks who actually understand
the deep history and traditions of this poetry)--we're going to
keep it simple:
Please write a Hiaku (three lined poem, 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables) about "Sprawl" or "Mainstreet".
C'monnnnnn, it'll be fun.

p.s. yes yes, I've heard. This is a variation on a not-100% original
idea...Mr.Jones tells me that KFSR used it to promote one of their shows
last year, and that he played theremin in a couple of shows on the coast by fellow RogueFester P.C. Munoz that included submitted Haiku. But this one has BONGOS!

pps. we'll probably cross-post this on our myspace:
www.myspace.com/sprawlzilla
and on mindhub----so probably pick one from each to make the three?
C'mon, I'm making this up as I type!

ppps. go see P. C. Munuz' Rogue show....it's the least we could say...it may also have some haiku...but I don't think they have bongos....

Thanks to all who join the fun!!!!!!!

oh yeah, all our shows are at Veni Vidi Vici...1pmSat.MarchFirst,
and 3:45 Sunday March 2nd AND 7:30pm on Friday, March7th.

High on Q's?

Here's a fix.

Downtown there's no town,
where have all the graceless gone?
They're sleeping in school!

Yeah ! (haiku thanks!) more?

yeah, I'd heard some creative folk hang here, so THANK YOU!
We're doing three different Rogue Fest performances, and later on we're taking it to Milano's and hopefully do a couple more shows in diverse places, so we'll be happy to have a large collection of haikus to pull from.
Any more??????

hiawhata?

this should really be done as a guest because it's late but, this looks like fun -

For Sprawlzilla:

Take back your tract slums
You’re a slime bellied rat scum
Gimme sand. tall trees

Sprawl Haiku

no planned growth eats land
developer's money rules
good bye fertile soil

haiku

Hey, thanks for the compliment. You know, I just may be in Fresno next weekend (which is why I was searching online for something to do that weekend) and I could come by, if you want. I don't know about bongos, but I like reading over music. Just a thought. Please feel free to do whatever with them. They're yours. Just give me proper credit. They're also arranged to read as one poem. I have and had relatives in Fresno, so would come every summer with 3 panting cats in the car. Thanks for the inspiration.

haiku!

Another WalMart

Where's my Calzone?

haiku?

Flat Suburban Sprawl
Enemies of the PEOPLE
Rezone Corruption

Gobsmacked by your Haiku!

wow. I was gonna come on here and
type out a slightly funny haiku, kinda 'prime the pump' and
..you know, make Todd (who plays "Mr. Practical") in our
show, not feel like his post was for naught, but then
**!K-Pow!** I read the above.
Thanks to Lorna Dee Cervantes, and I hope she contacts either of
us and says it's ok for us to display her haiku
in some way during our Rogue thing. It'd be an honor.

A Dozen Haiku For the Preservation of Fresno

]A Dozen Haiku for the Preservation of Fresno

Another strip mall.
Food gone to subdivision.
Culture? Green leaf trying.

Where will it end? When?
All new pools make a major
splash. Frogs fall silent.

Spaniards conquered, razed,
plundered baskets and dells. Red
abalone stays.

My ancestors walked
here, sage smoked their ancestors
into existence.

Trace the whole valley.
Make a score of the mountains.
River music. Sing!

Why shop another
chain? Why drain the land for lawns?
Soon, another way.

All these cars going!
All these coughing lives to where
there is no there there.

Up: Yosemite.
Down: the economy, homes.
Live well. Save it all.

Soon, you'll be packed in
a box or up in smoke, dead
right. So, vote for bush.

Way up in scrub, pines
wither, fall, remember it
all. Will you be mall?

Strip another mall.
Sprawl from river to hills.
No way out but shop.

Here on Main Street all
dead poets sprawl. Sprawl?
The world falls with you.

Where are FresnoFamous' Happy Haiku-ers?

What, I come back and no haiku from you???

Oh, c'mon now. Make a haiku for us...about 'sprawl' or 'mainstreet' and you
might have it read in our wonderous Rogue show. Sometimes we play
for audiences of up to twenty or twenty FIVE people at a time.
It's like you'd be a ROCK star!
Haiku Me, Baby!
