Fresno Famous

This is a column that I wrote for an old independent newspaper (Tower District News).

Did you know that there is an exercise equipment manufacturer in Fresno who sells their high-end product around the world (and it's not Zinkin Fitness)?

If you could have any kind of business in the Central Valley, what would it be? Would you develop historic, downtown buildings?

I lived in Pleasanton, California for 3 years, from 1997-2000. Those were interesting economic times in the Bay Area. The stock market was going positively wild.

I guess the thing that bothers me about the no-traffic-on-the-mall crowd is that they seem so unwilling to consider other options.

Today's meeting was much more positive. Jackie Ryle steered folks toward what they would like to see...rather than their old, tired stories about how it was, or about how conditions are now.
