The Olive Press is a fairly new restaurant (i think) in downtown Fresno. They're a mix of Italian and American dishes. Their daily specials seem reasonably priced. Overall, their food is fair priced for a lunch. They're open M-F 10am - 9 pm, although on Weds they're only open until 4pm. Sat & sun they're open for private parties. They also deliver downtown.

Around the Olive Press is mostly metered parking, although there are several 30 min parking spots right in front. But, you may want to find a meter, and fill it with enough quarters because they aren't the speediest of places. You seat yourself where available. It took about 6 minutes for me to get service after I sat down, and my burger didn't come out for another 13 minutes. I was parked in one of the 30min spots, but I wasn't really worried about a ticket because I eat fast. But, it is something to consider. The ambiance in the restaurant is simple, but nice. They have tables, booth and a lunch counter seating. I'd guess they can hold about 60 people.

I ordered the Italian burger, which is a 1/3 lb burger w/an Italian sausage on it. It came with the option of fries, potato or pasta salad. I had the fries. They were decent. The burger was great! Seriously good. The combo of hamburger, Italian sausage, Swiss cheese and mushrooms was delicious. It was worth the wait, to me. So, I gobbled it up, paid my bill, and was out in just about 30 min. No parking ticket!

Also, if you've got a good connection, you can catch the city's free wireless internet. The Olive Press also showed up on my wireless, but I didn't see if it needed a password.
