EKO Marketing & Design, LLC Makes It Easy for Cosmetology Schools to Market Themselves

Fresno, CA – Recognizing a need for professionally designed marketing collateral in the cosmetology school industry, the agency has created a line of semi-custom brochures, folders, and business cards. The semi-custom materials have been pre-designed to market any cosmetology school. Upon order, EKO Marketing & Design adds the cosmetology school name, logo, and contact information for the purchaser to the marketing piece. Other minor copy revisions such as adding the name of the school’s accrediting agency and school features are also included with brochure orders.
The agency began the semi-custom line with a bold, sexy, high glamour brochure design called “Go Glam.” The Go Glam brochure was created to have the look and feel of a beauty magazine to appeal to the typical 18 to 34-year-old female demo for cosmetology students. EKO Marketing & Design recently launched a new design for the semi-custom line called “Freedom Rocks.” This brochure was designed with a music/rocker theme to appeal to students who are edgier, progressive, and alternative. Offering these brochures, folders, and business cards as semi-custom materials allows the agency to offer them at a more competitive price, making it more affordable for cosmetology schools to professionally market themselves. The agency has also recently decided to allow schools to further customize the brochures, folders, and business cards by offering them choices of colors and photos. Making these choices available to cosmetology schools broadens the appeal of the semi-custom marketing collateral. Schools can now purchase marketing materials that will match the colors of their logo and better represent the potential students in their particular market.
Fresno-based marketing, advertising, and design agency, EKO Marketing & Design, is beginning to make its mark in the cosmetology school industry. The small boutique agency chose the industry based on its staff’s previous work experience. All the current EKO members have worked in an in-house marketing department for a chain of cosmetology schools. Collectively, they have had first-hand experience in all manner of cosmetology school marketing: media planning/buying, ad campaign development, TV/radio production, design of all marketing materials (i.e. business cards, letterhead, brochures, postcards, clinic price lists, promotional items, etc.), logo design, public relations services, and website development. They were also responsible for the creation and launch of a completely new cosmetology school brand. When Falina Marihart decided to open her own marketing and design agency in September 2006, it seemed logical to make her team’s expertise in cosmetology school marketing available to all schools nationwide.
EKO Marketing & Design joined the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) in February this year in order to reach members of the cosmetology school industry. The agency made its debut at the AACS Spring Management Conference in March 2007. The agency attended as an exhibitor in order to showcase their past design projects, network, and inform school owners and directors of its marketing services. More recently, the agency attended the Cosmetology Educators of America (CEA) Annual Convention in July, again in the capacity of an exhibitor. The three-day convention was held in Las Vegas where it welcomed 985 attendees, which included vendors, school directors, school owners, and many cosmetology educators. Here EKO Marketing & Design teamed up with one of their clients, Suzi Q Cosmetics. Recognizing the need for a new cosmetics line in the cosmetology school industry, the agency made the recommendation for Suzi Q Cosmetics to offer student makeup kits to schools. The products of Suzi Q Cosmetics are designed for beautiful brown skin with golden or olive undertones, a special feature that seemed to be missing from the currently available student makeup kits. Both EKO Marketing & Design and Suzi Q Cosmetics plan to be exhibitors at the upcoming AACS Annual Convention and Expo in October.
