And the winner is...Taco Bell

I'm totally guessing here, but if past results are any indication, the Bell franchise will have at least one win in The Bee's People's Choice Awards. Voting is open now.
I'm not posting this because it's one of the many projects I work on as an employee of The Bee (we're coming up on one year by the way, so feel free to shit on the site any time now), but because it's an opportunity to support local businesses and show that Fresno has more to offer than chain restaurants and big-box super stores (though we do seem to love them).
Or, you can just wait for the Famous Choice Awards and make fun of it all. Feel free to send category suggestions.

Dont forget Bobby Smellazar's Pink Taco Night
LOL
I like Taco Bell too.
Taco Bell is nice. It is popular in my country too. :)
i like taco bell
I like Taco bell too...
Localism is cool as long as they're not incompetent or crooked. Over a period of time I look for some form of truthfulness and value in the merchandising.
I pretty much stopped eating at national fast food chains about 10 pounds ago. What about the Joe, anyone go there? Most people think it's expensive but, I have found it's actually quite low in price for the basics and much higher
in quality.
Voting local
There's no way the Bee will do a local-only People's Choice Awards, simply because the corporate businesses, if they win, are more likely to plunk down bigger $$$$ for ads in the section when it prints.
BUT... If you VOTE local (and get enough people to participate), then what can they do?
As for "feel free to shit on the site any time now"...the site is fine, but YOU, Famous Whitewater... Well, that's another story... (Just messin' with ya).
I have also wondered who are these people that vote for Taco Bell as the best of anything. Starbucks is another one too. Maybe this will be the year when a decent place wins.
Agreed
Locally-owend chains are okay (and in Me-N-Ed's case, delicious as well) and should be supported. The money from a local business stays in the community. Spend your money at some place with no local roots and you're essentially exporting dollars to another region.
We decide how our community will operate every time we make a purchase.
Locally Owned Only
It would be nice if they limited it to locally owned businesses only and not chains/franchises. I guess Me-n-Eds and DiCiccos are considered locally owned but Starbucks should not be in the running.
yowza
135 categories! that's a pretty comprehensive list. i've got opinions, but i probably would leave a third of them blank just because i don't know.
maybe when i'm willing to take some time i'll crank out answers to 100 of them. because really, who does have the best tutorial center?
