Of rumors and lies...
The internets (well, Myspace at least) is swarming with rumors that Fugazi frontman Ian Mackaye has died.
From a post subject-lined Tragedy in the world of punk rock... (Please Repost):
Ian Mackaye, lead singer of influential hardcore band Minor Threat as well as Fugazi passed away today in a Baltimore hospital room. Outside a Fugazi show in New Jersey last night, the singer was struck by a car passing by the front of the Ventura Theatre. Brunswick police say that the driver allegedly stopped, but then fled the scene. There is now a police investigation underway.
Mackeye was rushed to St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, where he was pronounced dead this morning at 6am. This is a tragedy for the underground music as a whole and we need to stand together at this time of loss.
I did a quick search and am pretty sure this is a lie, but it's it's true...oh man. If anyone has any more info, let us know.

...you have the same couch
since 1982?
(...I do rebuild furniture, allow me to introduce myself...)
Ian MacKaye is not dead
When I Googled it yesterday it was listed on only a couple unfamiliar blogs and myspace. No NYTimes, no Washington Post and it had supposedly been over 12 hours since. Famous or known people dying is a fave hoax of pranksters.
Ian MacKaye slept on my couch in 1982.
Elvis may (or may not be) dead...
Morrison IS dead...
Elvis will live on through his music forever... (long live the king.)
And Johnny Cash went home after one heck of a last act, (and then his house burned down before one of the BeeGees had a chance to live in it...)
...and what are we, down to ONE Ramone?
(music biz is looking pretty high-risk these days.)
if people would use search before posting
just use Google or yahoo news searches and you'll find many news reports stating this is a lie, in fact you'll find current interviews with Ian talking about this false rumor.
Ian MacKaye is alive. Elvis is still dead
it's not true...
this bulletin is all over MySpace too:

2) The theatre he was supposeldy leaving is the Ventura Theatre...WHICH IS IN CALIFORNIA!
3) The Hospital he is said to have died at is St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore...THERE IS NO ST. AGNES HOSPITAL IN BALTIMORE...the closest one is in NEW JERSEY 3 HOURS AWAY!
