What is up Café Corazón?

We'll tell ya. We've been incredibly busy. We haven't been able to frequent the corner of Van Ness and Olive as much as we'd like to. We keep getting tangled up in a bunch of other things, like,,,,Artza Palooza. :)

We'll be at Hamilton K-8 school on October 27th for Artza Palooza. We'll be raffling off a gift basket! Haven't decided which one to raffle yet, the small basket with one pound of fresh coffee, 2 coffee mugs and some chocolate. Our medium basket with an additional pound of coffee, for a total of two pounds. We also added biscotti to raise the coffee experience another level. Or the large, this is our flagship basket. This basket includes two pounds of our high quality gourmet coffees from around the world, 2 coffee mugs filled with biscotti, chocolates and a blade grinder. We'll probably decide next week.

More news!?! Yes more. I was up late last night roasting samples of some new considerations. After calling our coffee broker we had 5 samples sent to us, more on why they had to send us some as opposed to cupping in Oakland later. We're gonna get Decaf! Finally have had enough inquiry to warrant getting some. That's right, you're witness to a tiny biz growing. We're also sampling the best Brazil has to offer from the Cerrado region, a region known to be some of the best Brazil has. Also on the sample list are 2 representatives from Guatemala. One from a region named Sol, another from a plantation called Finca Injerto. The samples for Decaf both surprised me. First, decaf beans look quite different. They are very dark beans. One sample of decaf is from Nicaragua and the other is a blend we'll call RB. Tonight will be a true coffee delight!

Why can't we cup in Oakland? Cause this weekend Leo and Liz will be touring Frisco and on Saturday going to see Interpol! Scheduling with the Coffee Broker didn't line up right for us to be able to cup in Oakland. Oh well:)

Brace yourself Fresno, that mass chain aint got nothin on Café Corazón.

Thanks dude

We're working on the details to be able to show up at the Crossroads. Sounds like it's going to be another great show.

:) It's quite and experience Rita. I'll write about it in more depth sometime soon. We just got in hours ago. Will post some pics and so on.

As for the Cerrado, yes. Will just keep questing for it. I have many resources for beans, a great bean is only a cup away.

I KNEW IT!

Now, you'll just keep seeking the Brazil Cerrado, right? Apricot, citrus, creamy finish ... I must have it. Ok, have a safe trip!

Thanks Rita

Cupping Coffee last night was awesome. Amazing....(insert numerous action verbiages here and go for like ten minutes, that's how cool it was)

So we picked the RB blend for the decaf, that stuff is interesting. Different, but interesting. Tasty with full flavor spectrum. The decaf-ness of it gives it a kind of watery mouth feel if that makes sense. Hard to really describe it beyond that. Will need to sit and cup it again to really dig into the fine points. Roasting decafs was interesting as well, completely different from regular coffee beans. They even sounded different tumbling in the roasting drum.

We also liked both of the offerings from Guatemala. In fact, it was a split decision between the two panel members. We discussed the finer points, and went with Sol for its cleaner cup, orange citrus body and great aromatics.

We did want a third, only started out intending to get two kinds of beans tomorrow. However, when I called this morning, they had sold out of one of the clear winners last night, Brazil Cerrado. This was another amazing cup with apricot and citrus notes and a creamy finish. It was disheartening to hear the words, "we're out of that one" on the other end of the phone :( sigh......

Will be traveling to purchase those in Oakland tomorrow. Have a great weekend people.(I know we are, can you say Regency Hyatt with revolving restaurant? yeahhhhhhh)

Those are words are true. You have very good news, I'm very happy and excited for your biz! I honestly can't wait to try your new beans, whichever you decide to go with. Man, any of those baskets sound fantastic - I was happy just to win a 1/2 pound of beans last time!!
We have plans to be at Hamilton that day, so I hope to catch up with you both.
You all make a fine product, very fine, very fine.
