I find it somewhat disturbing that your fraternity takes a "well he did it to himself" attitude about this situation. The fact is that your organization promotes excessive drinking and dangerous behavior. When I was @ CSUF I went to FIJI parties a couple times and most people (including me) drank as much as they could and then drove home.
Instead of saying "oh he was a tenant" why don't you stop and ponder the situation. I think this ban could serve as a wakeup call the Greek system @ Fresno State that your behavior can have dangerous consequences. Whether or not he was a "member" or "tenant" he was still living in an environment that promoted poor decision-making. I'm not saying his death is your fault. However, I implore you to use this sad event as an opportunity to learn and grow.
On a side note, from reading your post any reason for you guys to hit the books instead of the bottles should be applauded.
