Although ramen noodles are of Japanese decent, the Cantonese word "ramen" translates to "poverty". This is purely coincidental, though.

ed... we're not housecats, lets think outside the box...

Is Dan's comment 'spam?'
Well, it could be an ad, it could not be an ad.
-considering the amount of people who click on, drop in a few lines, write about stuff and then vanish?
Who knows...?

Even stuff like an article talking about blogging has it's merit on a site that is basically a giant blog.
-so, even if it 'is' an ad, it's relevant.

-We get all sorts of stuff posted on FresFam. -a LOT of ads and such (mortgage, travel, how to kill bugs, -etc.)
-and it's all pertainant in one way or another.
--It could even be argued (if the logic is taken further) that a lot of the stuff we post in support of local events (performances, opennings, stuff like that, -is promotion, and therefore can be seen as 'spam,' too. (It's just that we know these people, support them because we know them, (most of the time who are great practitioners of their craft, -though not always,) -and because they're Fresno Grown (or Formerly of Fresno) ---or are playing at a Fresno venue, -they're 'IN.'

As much as it may be up to Josh to decide what should be posted, or not, --My point in a greater sense?
The site is basically built by all who contribute to it.
The site can be greatly regulated by those who contribute to it, (even those who do nothing but pick it's contents apart and have like, one damn guitar string that they're going to play till the Lord's return...)

If the site is going to be healthy, is going to be productive, and going to mature, ---which is a direct reflection of the maturity and mindset of it's contributors, It has to be (for lack of a better word) 'self-policing.'
(..yes, yes, I know, mention of the word 'police,' as anything other than a ska-pop band sends chills down the spine of so many FresFam contributers... sorry, but we must get past this, shan't we?)

Deciding what to have and not have on here?
Yeah, in a basic sense that is kind of Josh's concern,
---and I respect the way that he does it.

But the greater responsiblity, and sign of a more evolved community
-is one that can work with the material presneted,
choose to engage it (or not,) and recognize that it's all potential for learning and information
--This is a far cry from '...That stuff, Those kind, don't belong here.' (I'm thinking more in terms of 'Intelligence,' than 'Deliverance,(the movie)' here.

Again, there is a ton of stuff that gets posted on Fresno Famous that is completely useless to me,
-but that's okay, I can choose to read it or not, and I'm glad that others find it good information that interests and benefits them,

-I can see past the fact that it does not fit my own personal tastes and scope and respect that, -and that others may enjoy it.

-Can you?

(final note:
-Looking over the correspondance, I'm realizing that the conversation, -though it's about what belongs on FresnoFamous (or not) would be something that Jarah may have appreciated dialogue over, --Still should be on another string.
This was her goodbye note to the site, (and eloquently done,)
-Not sure if Josh has this ability, or not, but perhaps the comments could be cut, repasted, and rehung as 'what makes for suitable content,' as a forum topic. (the Cutting of this, possibly starting with 'Dan's' orig. posting.
Though I do feel strongly about the subject (one of the reasons why I'm writing to it,) I do feel more strongly that the beauty of the initial string's subject matter should remain intact.
-So, Josh, -feel free to relocate my posts (or I can) if you, and the others would like to do so...

Jarah, wherever you are, be well, stay a beauty, hope the courses are blessing you, and I hope your flights across the country were (much) less jarbled than mine were, and that your holidays were good...

-Eric
