A list of Fine
The dictionary defines Fine as such;

3.
a. Free from impurities.
b. Metallurgy Containing pure metal in a specified proportion or amount: gold 21 carats fine.
4. Very sharp; keen: a blade with a fine edge.
5. Thin; slender: fine hairs.
6. Exhibiting careful and delicate artistry: fine china. See Synonyms at delicate.
7. Consisting of very small particles; not coarse: fine dust.
8.
a. Subtle or precise: a fine difference.
b. Able to make or detect effects of great subtlety or precision; sensitive: has a fine eye for color.
9. Trained to the highest degree of physical efficiency: a fine racehorse.
10. Characterized by refinement or elegance.
I looked up the roots of the word as well, Fi and Ne, but it seems it's derivative(s) do not really lend to it's definition. It's its own word, which is cool...
There are many ways to add spice to your life, flavors, and broaden your experiences by learning things, trying new and different. Things that grow your mind, your taste buds or your heart even. Many times, in my experience, by trying new and different things you grow yourself as a whole and when you share, you are helping your community grow.
My list of fine things are not as broad as they could be, but I'm hoping other people will share their list of the finer things, indulgences, rarities, obscurities and experiences that add to their joys in life. (For instance, someone school me on Wine, PLEASE!)
Coffee-this list can be long, I'll be quick and say that the Harrar Horse is the Espresso that has me reeling back in awe and wonder
Alcohol(s)-Scotch, Black Label. Tequila, Casadorez Blanco. Gin, Saphire.
Beer-Shock Top has me right now, for a while it was Sierra Nevada, Dead Guy or Sequoia Sherman IPA. That's when I don't have a Growler full of supm tasty from Full Circle.
Desert-Liz's Flan, a good Tira Misu, Banana and Nilla Wafer Pudding, Rhubarb Pie...another long list
Steak-I tend to like Rib Meat, Rib Eye really has my number, specially one cut like 2" thick medium rare and rested off my 500 degree grill.
Now, where to go for such items...Coffee is easy, beer easy, steak is easy too. You know why, cause there are places in town that are second to none because of Freshness and Quality.
When we get people from Spain, Cuba, South America and world travelers that come to our shop, have to pull us aside to say they have been all over California, SF, LA and SD and could not find a good coffee or espresso, and here in this place in Fresno California of all places they have found something that has no equal that they have ever tasted. These people find themselves having to say something to us for it (complete with thick foreign accents), we do not solicit the comments. This makes all the sleepless nights worth it. We thank them and say yes, we're from Fresno and we're proud of that fact.
There are other places like this in town. I just found a cigar shop tucked away in a corner in the most unassuming spot next to Balley's off of Blackstone. Casa del Tabaco. As with every other fine thing, freshness rules supreme. This guy, Aldo, rolls the cigars himself. He's Cuban and he's lived the Tabaco life. He knows everything you want to know about how, why, where and when about Tabaco. After a brief talk with him, I was on lunch, I came away with a broader understanding a stronger depth of knowledge and an anticipation of what flavors wait for me in the Fine Cigar I just bought from him. I could go on, trust me......
We have Full Circle and Sequoia.
We have Joe's Steakhouse. We have The Smokehouse. There's Casa Mariani II, the First Casa Mariani resides in Italy of course.
We have many places like this in town. I haven't even mentioned Pho houses or the Farmers Market at Fresno State. What are your "Fine" places? At the very least, I want to learn from you about the places I need to know about for my own knowledge and life enrichment...

Great combos...
Peanut butter and jelly, chocolate and peanut butter, pizza and beer, Cafe Corazon and Casa Del Tobaco...keep me posted!!

We actually spoke about
coffee a little bit. I want something to enjoy with my cigar, so I asked what went well with a cigar. He came back at me without blinking, coffee.
We had a kind of meeting of the minds of sorts. When I started telling him how much goes into selecting our coffees, how I don't flavor them and how much time I spend roasting them for flavor, he was giving me the head nod of acceptance and relation. I mentioned a mass chain as a poor example of good coffee and his face shrank up at the thought of a mass chain coffee. Needless to say, we'll be getting to know each other very well in the future. I feel very lucky to know Aldo.
I think we'll be working on having a sunday smoke and coffee sometime soon.

Casa del Tobaco
Dude, that place rocks and like you said Aldo is hella cool people. I have several of his cigars in my humidor. I have buddies that basically live in there.
I don't know if he offered you any coffee, people seem to like it. Maybe next time you can let him "sample" some of yours.
As far as some of the finer things in life. I just tried the burgers at Tommy's on the mall. Now that is a good ol' fashioned hamburger. No frills, just a good tasting burger.

Shock Top
I had my first Shock Top this past Friday at Creative Fresno's blender at b.b.'s (Shaw and Marks). I did enjoy it ( and a second one) too.
