An afternoon with Yoshi and the Overdubs
I rarely connect with the local music scene—in fact, my last attempt was the Dorktown anniversary party at Starline, and I stood out like a sore thumb in that crowd. That said, a friend of mine is a member of The Overdubs (who played on that ticket, but not until after my bedtime), and called me this morning to invite me to an afternoon show at Yoshi's.
Since Kim was out helping a friend find a bridal gown, I figured I'd check it out. Fortunately, they set up inside; the breeze from the fans was definitely cooler than the parking lot. A few delays, and the band started at 3:30.
The crowd was pretty thin (in fact, most of those there were connected to the same band member I was), but the band sounded good, and it was easy to see they were having fun. Good, family-friendly fun; three children of band members were present. I know that Yoshi's holds regular events like this, I just didn't think I was cool enough to partake.
Great band. Great store. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

how cool do you have to be..
when you're in a store full of old stuff run by a bunch of dorks?
pido...you were the coolest one there...thanks for joining in on the fun. and thanks for writing about it!
rumor has it that the Overdubs will be playing at our next Flea Market -october 11th...mark your calendars!!
I notice that your kid is in the video, but not Weston's (c'mon, admit it, Luca is a big draw when he's standing in front of a fan...that's taller than he is...).
There are obviously some jealousy issues you guys have to work on.

for the hundreds of thousands that missed our show, here's a taste
hey!
thanks for the write up but I do think that you are giving weston too much credit, at least five or six people were connected to ME
