another lovely day at the ballpark
so, today i braved the heat and went out for an afternoon game at the chuck. very nice day at the ballpark, except for the heat. i can't blame the grizzlies for that one.
what i liked:
-the chicken strips w/fries.
-the snow cones.
-the friendly staff.
-the misters.
-the good seats i was able to pick up yesterday, even though it was father's day and a promo give away.
seriously folks, i figured that it would be sort of busy @ the ballpark because it was father's day. and the grizz have been playing pretty good this year. get on out to the game.
here's what i didn't see (maybe i was just fortunate)
-sloppily dressed staff - every shirt was tucked in, everyone had on a belt, all pants were @ the proper level.
-vagrants (or people often called vagrants) in the parking structure. shoot, since it was a weekend game, we were even able to park rather close to the entrance - great spot!
sadly, the grizz couldn't hold the lead, and our side went down in defeat. maybe i'm crazy, but unlike a lot of the 'superfans' around me, i wouldn't blame the umpires for this loss. there was one bad call, but the professional athletes on the field should have tuned it out instead of melting down, then making a throwing error which was just as costly for the one run. the catcher running his mouth and getting tossed out of the game probably didn't help either. and, another fielding error (if it was scored right) led to another portland run, not the safe call. last time i checked, tie went to the runner and the ump's call was correct. the grizz lost the game, and that's baseball.
