Beginning Autoharp for Classroom Use
The autoharp is a folk instrument that lends itself well to classroom use. Classroom teachers and other students will learn strumming rhythms following a four-step method in a relaxed, fun environment. Beginners and accomplished musicians alike, will finish the program with a repertoire of folk songs suitable for the classroom. Activities include developing playing skills; learning basic music theory; transposing on the autoharp; playing familiar folk songs; and practicing ear-training techniques. Autoharps may rented for an additional $10 fee or bring your own (pre-tuned if possible). A packet of songs will be provided. The class is appropriate for education and music students and anyone wishing to learn folk style autoharp. Complete beginners are encouraged to enroll!
Evo Bluestein, considered one of this country’s most accomplished Appalachian-style autoharpists, is also a teacher of folk music and dance in many California schools.
