I heard about this a while back (a few days ago, whatever) and thought it was a super idea.
The Fresno Art Museum's “A Vision Unfolds: 60 Years of Art,” will feature work from the folks from the original Fresno Art Center, which started in 1948 (hence the 60 years bit), along with stuff from locals who have never shown at the museum before.
That means YOU, the painter/photographer/mixed media creator who'd like to add "shown at the Fresno Art Museum" to your artist-statement/resume.
The stipulations are such: 1.) Have never shown at the Fresno Art Musuem. 2.) Reside in the Central Valley.
There's also some stuff about being the work being ready to hang, no sculpture or installations, etc., but you can get all the details at from Eva Torres at eva@fresnoartmuseum.org or at (559) 441-4221 ext. 115.
Via the Fresno Art Musuem
The opening reception and celebration for this exhibition will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Jan. 23. This event will also officially kick off 2009, the Fresno Art Museum’s 60th anniversary year, as the “Year of the Member”. For 60 years, the Fresno Art Museum has been presenting modern and contemporary art to the Valley. The event will be free for the general public where we’ll unveil the 2009 new membership campaign goal.
