Excerpts from Study Conducted on Conservative Radio:
http://www.americanprogress.org/publicsearch/?text=talk+radio&Submit=SEA...
*Our analysis in the spring of 2007 of the 257 news/talk stations owned by the top five commercial station owners reveals that 91 percent of the total weekday talk radio programming is conservative, and 9 percent is progressive.
*Each weekday, 2,570 hours and 15 minutes of conservative talk are broadcast on these stations compared to 254 hours of progressive talk—10 times as much conservative talk as progressive talk.
*A separate analysis of all of the news/talk stations in the top 10 radio markets reveals that 76 percent of the programming in these markets is conservative and 24 percent is progressive, although programming is more balanced in markets such as New York and Chicago.

An interview with Richard Viguerie by Bill Moyers explains, somewhat, how conservatives bought up radio over the years, and why we get such gross disproportionate balance on radio.
Doctorates
Does the Universal Life Church still offer on-line doctorates in psuedo-science areas like metaphysics for like $35? If they do, I'm so getting one so I can be Dr. Stormwysper.
did you know?
dr. laura's doctorate is in physiology, not psychology, counseling, psychiatry, or anything really related to giving clinical/moral/ethical advice.
she did have a marriage, family & child counseling (mfcc) degree, but her license in that area is inactive. although the mfcc degree lends some credibility to her "counsel," it's also a master's level degree, not a doctorate.
she has a doctorate, and is entitled to use that title, but it does seem misleading and disingenuous.
I think
The liberals seem to go to other mediums for their content. Air America was very liberal and it didn't last very long. Obviously, it's all about advertising dollars, not fairness.
All I'm arguing for is some balance. With so much overlapping right wing talkers in our area it's unfair to the rest of us who have a more liberal point of view. Our voice, our ideas and beliefs are shut out of the discussion in this biggest public forum. In other talk radio markets there is a balance between the Left and the Right. Talkers like Limbaugh and Hannity were instrumental in electing the most incompetent and corrupt administration we have ever seen. They shape public opinion and policy
through their talk shows and it pays off at the ballot box.

Dr. Laura on 1300 & 840
KYNO is in Fresno, Arbitron market #66. 840 KMPH is in Modesto, market #108. Overlap in neighbor markets is common, especially for AM. Also, that's inherently what syndication in radio IS: having your show on in more than one market. This amazing coverage you speak of might even spread to Visalia, Stockton, Sacramento and Bakersfield, all markets potentially audible in Fresno.
Eerie.
