Fresno Famous Awards
I love the Fresno Famous Awards. They give us a chance to let Fresno know what we really like and dislike. I hope Ashley Swearingin is reading it.
What I love the most is that it gives us the option to write in our votes. This year there are some very very special people voting and I just wanna offer kudos to those special folks.
1. The 22 people who voted "Tower District" as the best reason to head south of Belmont.
My response to this is, buy a map. Familiarize yourself with the compass. Then resubmit your answer.
2. The 20 people who voted Amber Freys' hand job for the best native daughter. oh, and props to the 3 three people who added the extra oil!
3. The 6 people who voted "Sex" as the best monthly event. Monthly? ouch.
4. The 1852 people who voted Taylor Abels as the best performer. Who?
5. The 22 people who voted Pruno @ the County Jail for the cheapest drinks. Yum.
6. The 47 people who said, "There is no reason to go north of Herndon." Lets kill that mentality....starting with mine.
7. Bells, for writing himself in as the Best Pseudo Celebrity. Vote for him. He's cool.
8. The five people who count "The time I sharted" as the best event of 2008. Dream big folks.
9. The one No-Town skater who wrote in "Valley Fever, are you fucking kidding me?"
as the Best sports team in Fresno. Way to keep it catty ladies!
10. Finally my very favorite, Fresno's wish list, A brain, A heart and courage. We got the first two down, now lets man-up and find the courage to revitalize downtown Fresno ASAP!!!!!

i'm glad to hear you'll be @ the match, along with other retired scrg members. i was sort of curious if y'all would, as it does show your true intentions in stepping out of the game, and that it wasn't just some personality clash or whatever.
i'm assuming that the bulletin posted by lucky eddie was done on her personal myspace, as it didn't go out from the notown one. minor difference there, but at least it wasn't done by the "team." i'd agree that it's ill advised, but i know we all don't live in a vacuum. i wonder what's been floating around teh internets to get someone that fired up to send such a bulletin.
about ballot box stuffing, it's rampant in most of the categories. i've always thought it a bit silly to not block multiple votes from an isp, but i suppose there's a reason.

And as the leader of No Town one would think she'd be more responsible with her words and actions being that she's the team representative.
As for whomever posted her bulletin on here, I would think they are tired of Lucky Eddie's and many other members of No Town's bullying, bad behavior and general immaturity.
That behavior is THE NUMBER ONE reason we took the name Smog City and everyone who sat at that meeting knows that.
We left because roller derby no longer had a place in our lives and we gladly left behind a legacy that No Town and Valley Fever have taken up with a vengance and that makes us very very proud.
As for the majority of SCRG, we will all be in attendance at the bout Saturday to root for our friends and help keep roller derby alive in Fresno.
Oh, and to the person who said these girls aren't the Bay Area Bombers or Tbirds? You are absolutely right! The difference between these girls and those women from the 70s is that these girls actually play the sport, not fake it up for your entertainment!
Just a suggestion
Everyone has their opinions, and everyone is entitled to them, but an online feud is unnecessary. Let’s take all this wasted time and energy and put it into something constructive: work, sports, volunteering throughout the community, hobbies, etc. My understanding of Fresno Famous is that it is a site to blog about different events and issues in and around the City of Fresno, to show that Fresno is a great place to live. So lets end these “he said, she said” online assaults, and come together as a community.
That’s just my two cents, you can take it or leave it, hate me for it or suchlike, rip me a new one online, but just remember those are personal opinions and it doesn’t bother me. At the end of the day what someone says or thinks about me doesn’t change who I am or bother me. And that is all I am going to say on the subject, because I am going to put my time and energy into my school, work, sports, and community.

Joey took a dream that I had, Smog City Roller Grrls!, and let the whole world know. At least all of Fresno. She did all this while balancing work, college, and motherhood. She was the face of our league, and brought us a ton of attention. I respect hwe for her honest and direct approach, but most of all for her love for all things Fresno. Joey, I salute you.
