In a case of is-this-gonna-happen-every-f'in-year, there was a motion before the City Council this morning (with a second and everything) to eliminate the budget for the Fresno Film and Entertainment Commission. This would eliminate the FFEC on July 1.
The FFEC is a division of the Downtown and Community Revitalization Department, whose budget presentation will be held 2 p.m. Thursday. So they need all y'all filmmakers and entertainment-loving types to show up and tell the council why the FFEC is important. Again.
The best one on the board,
The best one on the board, in my opinion. Cynthia Sterling. She is a super cool chick.
The local film industry is awesome.
I want to be there and help support our artists, I am one. So, thanks for the update. I will pass the word on. Have you considered putting a blog on www.fresnoarts.net?

I doubt it's personal. It's just hard times. When you consider having to lay off city workers or defund the film commission, it's not such an easy choice.
I Heart City Council!
Those guys need to continue doing what they're doing to help build Fresno and it's local art scene by doing this kind of stuff. FFEC?! What the hell do they do for us besides just help local filmmakers as well and bring in outside productions that inject money into the community? Bah! Oh and that Ray Arthur guy?! Don't even get me started on that guy, all nice & helpful & shit. I say to the FFEC "Good riddance!"
Join me to help bring down the FFEC at City Hall this Thursday at 2pm and together we can deliver the killing blow!
P.S. — I heard there will be punch & pie.
