I've been vacant for awhile. On vacation. Yeah. Sorry.
But I am back with a quick rundown of some things I heard about/think you should know about.
Let them eat cake
The MET is closing out its I Want Candy exhibit, with a cool, little party. We're assured it won't end up like the last one. Jokes aside, this is gonna be cool me thinks. Here's to the MET for thinking outside the box on this one.
Innovate
Adrian Rodriguez, the guy behind LateUpdate has a new venture he calls "innovative." It sounds like the tiniest bit of hyperbole, but the idea super cool and you all should hop on board. Here's the Web site. It's in BETA. I don't think he'll mind.
Television rots your brain
The Beehive's Rick Bentley is down in Los Angeles, sorry, Pasadena, for some Television Critics something or other. Anyway, the blogs is load up with his reports.
Dance, dance, dance
If you've never seen a B-Boy battle, get yourself to the Starline on Saturday. Seriously. It could change your life. Erik "Waldoe" Escovedo has been dancing for 14 years and set up this event to preserve and expand the scene throughout the Valley.
Blend
The Lofts at the old Security Bank Building have been a long time coming. So, I'm always exciting when there's any news on that front. Not sure what the "news" is here, but Creative Fresno was invited to host its August Blender on the building's 11th Floor. That's where the lofts are/will be, yes? I guess we'll find out on Friday.
And speaking of...
Downtown housing, I got a peek inside Reza Assemi's latest, the Iron Bird Lofts, which are set to open sometime in November (ish). They are nice, people. Totally spacious, with HUGE windows and balconies. Not like that tiny thing I have at the Vagabond (J/K). On a related note, The Bee had a story on another of Assemi's projects, which is also the site of Creative Fresno's latest mural.
It looks like I am going to be moving across the street or down the block.
Creative Fresno Blender hosts art of Aileen Imperatrice
Yes, the 11th floor is where you'll find the super cool lofts filled with my art and the amazing views of Fresno. Yesterday was my ArtHop Opening of the exhibit and it was great! I thank owner Saundra King for inviting me to exhibit my artwork in her lofts and I'm glad Creative Fresno asked me to be their featured artist while I could offer them the location of the Luxury Lofts! Plus I'm donating 50% of all my art sales Friday night back to Creative Fresno.
See you there!
