Is it me or are folks in Fresno completely infused with the holiday spirit?
I dont know so much about the shopping part because I've completely ignored the money aspect of it all.
But lately, when i've been out and about, folks are so geniunely kind and thoughtful.
Its rare that you get a "hello" or "have a nice day"
and somehow no matter what i do or where i go there is someone ready and willing to warm my cold cold heart!
Generally speaking, you dont get much neighborly love. Fresnans as a whole arent the kindest gentlest souls. And I dont say this to knock my hometown folks but i'm just speaking my truth. folks arent always nice, mostly impatient, and tend to side on the arrogant side.
everyone is in a rush rush rush to get where they need to be, obtain what they feel is rightfully theirs and push and shove aside anyone who stands between them and their perceived happiness.
typically i step away from that mentality, chosing to ignore someone elses negativity but i'm caught off-guard when i hear a warm voice or am offered a friendly gesture.
this season we are filled with it. maybe its cause we are collectively broke. typically mammals tend to turn on one another when their livelihood is threatend. See the chimpanzee if you dont believe me. No food? gang rape, incest and infanticide. Bonobos on the other hand are living in the lap of luxury and solve all problems with peace, love, sex and happiness.
One would think that there would be more robbing and stealing this season since our pockets are scant. instead i get these unlikely smiles and friendly faces reminding me that it could be much much worse. perish the thought.
so i ask, am i alone in this? are you all feeling the love too?
or is it just me?
