Spargelzeit* comes to the Vineyard Farmer’s Market at Blackstone & Shaw with Oh Spear Me! Asparagus Celebration! While they have to wait until late spring to start celebrating in Germany, April will provide plenty of the green stuff for our local celebration. The Vineyard Farmer’s Market has invited six of its Market Chefs to create asparagus inspired dishes in a delightful morning display of culinary skills. Not only will you get to sample asparagus creations from six of Fresno’s most innovative chefs but also get into the Spargelzeit spirit with live bluegrass music performed by The Dalton Mountain String Band, a coloring contest, asparagus recipes and lots of asparagus fun.
How it works: For $5 attendees receive a ticket/ballot good for one sample of an asparagus dish per booth. The ticket/ballot will list each of the participating restaurants, and is marked off at each station.
The ticket/ballot will have a space on the bottom to indicate a favorite.
Once the attendee has sampled each asparagus dish they drop off their ticket/ballot in a centrally located ballot box.
All proceeds will benefit the Vineyard Farmer’s Market Association, a non-profit corporation.

Along with asparagus, we will be launching our Petanque at the Market series. Every Saturday in April the Fresno Petanque Group will be on hand to introduce you to the fun and exciting game of Petanque on the east side of the Market.
