I am one proud Mama!!!
My girl is heading to San Jose to represent Fresno as one of many young Californians to attend the Congressional Youth Leadership Conference.
My little Sugar Baby who was nominated by her teacher, chosen by the US Senate and sponsored by many wonderful family and friends is the only student picked in Fresno to attend the Congressional Youth Leadership Conference.
This National Youth Leadership Conference begins March 12 and lasts 4 days. There she will be involved in workshops and conferences that will foster her leadership abilities, teach her leadership techniques and introduce her to like-minded students from all across California while representing Fresno as a future leader of our community.
Who would've thunk, huh? Considering all the negative statistics that many folks believe to be true about children of single-parent homes, my Sugar Baby seems to be breaking the mold.
I for one am proud of my girl whose name implies that she'd be one hell of a stripper!
And for pushing herself when I get overwhelmed and cannot do it for her!
So here we are, countless days of being all she can be, leading the pack, never holding back and $1,400.00 later she's off to represent ALL of Fresno's junior high school population; and thats one tall order!
Kudos to Clovis Unified for arming her with oodles of knowledge, for allowing her room to grow into herself, for overlooking her bold fashion statements that could easily be misconstrued as gang attire, for guiding her leadership abilities and recognizing the amazing person she is and for considering her an asset to her school!
Kudos to my baby for being everything I hoped she would be. A pat on her back for rising above the obstacles she and I have faced over the years and making a name for herself at the ripe old age of 13!
So to those who are down on single parents and their children, not everyone fits your narrow-minded stereo-types. Some of us actually take accountablity for mistakes we've made, never once allowing another to pay or pave our way, we choose to humble ourselves for the betterment of our children and hold ourselves to the highest standards which we pass along to our children in the form of pride, hard work and dedication. And it pays off!!!
I for one am proud to be the Mama of Tyra SugarBaby Vaquez!!
Yay!
The kid is back home!
Filled with a ton of knowlege and new-found leadership skills AND best of all, an open invitation to all Congressional Leadership Conferences from now til she's 18!!!
The Global Youth Leadership Conference is held in China this year.....now how can we work out her fear of flying?????
I am so proud of her!
Thanks to (almost) everyone for the well wishes and sincere congratulations!
re: This is not a solution
If you're going to rag on someone's kid, at least have the balls to sign in under your own name, NOT "Famous Guest."
Jerk.
This is not a solution
Acknowledging Ann Coulter is not a route for enlightening youthful aspirations amongst teenagers. And equating being chosen by the US Senate with having leadership abilities and assets worth praising is pretty vile. And if the negative stats conserning single parents are not true, why are you so defensive about them?
As far as being a future community leader in Fresno, well I would ask first your definition of community and what you expect your leader to accomplish. Fresno is the tale of poverty, ignorance, and enjoying a free government check by thousands of its residents.
Finally, I am confused, would you be proud of her being a hell of a stripper? And how can she represent all of the junior high population?, she is just one teenager, with one voice. Hopefully you'll wake from your daydream and see what you think you want, is not really worth it.
I am so proud of lil Sugar
I am so proud of lil Sugar Mama it makes me proud to see our future leaders will rise up above what we have built and become even greater leaders
