The Mint, SNL..and holy moly!

So Friday, all the work..all the stress..all ..the hype..came down to Arte Americas. I wasn't sure if people would buy into the 3 piece band. The Crowd did show up!!..I can't lie that it was exciting to see a full house..But I think the bummer was setting up for the show..we took about 2 hours to set up everything..but one thing there was nooo shade and it was about 104 degrees..not bad..unless your lifting heavy stuff and have to do a show after. we got a late start on sound check..and had to stop early...giving us about a twenty minute break before the show. I remember going to wash my face and the water being light brown from all the sweat off my face..haha. I enjoyed the show, and it did cool down...I just didn't feel the energy from the guys that we're used to..that set up did kinda wear us down a little..but hey, thats why the great ones pull through I guess..we tried our best...

..i think the next day we felt like..ok ok.. we are going to kill it at the mint..and we did!! and I'm not just saying that.we earned ourself a residency at the mint in october..4 saturdays. 2 sundays shows...although, we are going to probably going to move one weekend..because we have a cd release at the warnors on the 25th. The mint was exciting ..and it felt good to be back in LA ..and take my fresno band ....We had three great opening bands..that definitely challenged us in different ways..one band..Jeremy Buck and The Bang..had this punk rock/rockabilly sound..and had the whole place going..even showed up in a tour bus..but I don't know if that was for show..or for real...a couple of the other bands gave us sour frowns as we walked in..I felt a feeling like.."your from fresno...and your..the headliner.."..I felt like saying , "yeah b*tch! and this fresnan gonna make you wish you never picked up a instrument after Im done playing"...but..thats not right..its not a competition..just my male competitiveness setting in...anyway..I can't wait to get back to LA..we are booking shows at The Temple Bar, The Echo and The Joint..currently..I'll keep ya updated...and here's some pics from the show!

So I've got an interested gig this weekend as well..I guess you never know what happens when you play violin in two different worlds ..rock/pop and classical...I will be providing the music for a celebrity this weekend..I'm not allowed to give the name away..but he was on Saturday Night Live for 12 as one of the main actors...Will Ferrell, Charlie Sheen(I thought he was in rehab!), and Adam Sandler are a few of the people in attendance for the night...another cool thing is that this Celebrities favorite restaurant is right outside of Fresno..again, not allowed to say where...i think the challenge for this wedding will not be keeping my cool in front of celebrities..but playing the music that they are requesting..im supposed to do a violin version of..U2's "its a beautiful day" and the theme from "the princess bride"..still not sure what that is...well..I'll let ya know how it went..and how these comedians act in person..jerks..or not?

oh yeah..go support lance canales cd release party friday night!
