dinner review of sanchez mexican grill
January 15, 2008
i wanted to try this place out because it is right near the signature theaters, and so it's always nice to know a place close to the theater to eat.
we came in, and it seemed nice. we sat down, and were given some chips and salsa. the chips were homemade and tasty. the salsa was nice, with a good little kick.
i ordered the chile verde, which came with rice and beans, and home made tortillas. well, the menu said that it came with home made tortillas. nope, not even close. which sucks, because home made corn tortillas are one of my favorite things @ mexican restaurants. it was also obvious that my whole plate had been in the microwave as the edges of the beans had that nice, i just came out of the micro boil pop look to them. the spanish rice was generic tasting. finally, the chile verde tasted good, but it was also a bit watery, and this one thing wasn't going to make up for the rest of the meal being average at best.
my friend had the combo burrito, which came with beans, cheese and either shredded beef, ground beef or chicken. he choose the shredded beef. which, apparently was not good and dry. when the plate came out, the beans were molten hot and melted cheese was oozing out, so we're pretty sure that it was all in the microwave, too.
so, it was worth a try, but i won't be going back there.

i'm glad it did
it's true, spam hobby cook, i probably won't go back. the central valley is bursting at the seams with quality mexican restaurants, so i'm unlikely to go to one that i wasn't that impressed with.
now, el conchinito contento, that's a completely different story.
Reading the post makes me hungry
Reading your article makes me hungry... But then, you say, you are not going back. So, perhaps the food is not so good, ha?
